I didn't quite get the fun out this insane bastardization. Had he stick to a Japanese brand, he could save himself off the hassle of turning an innocent Beetle into such a monster. If someone of you could talk to the guy and pass on my observation, I would appreciate it.

Since the Beetle belonged to him, he could do whatever, but I feel someone should speak up on behalf of a VW and protest!

I understood what you meant by early beetle. Even in the early beetles there are differences, Please check and share the model year of your beetle. Shahzeb Malik (a PW member in Islamabad )has a few lenses for early 60's beetles. Do contact him directly to see if the design pattern is correct for your car.

If you beetle is very early it would have an 'anda' (egg) design in the middle. I like the one that is just plain glass. I have put Pajero lights behind the plain glass so light is very bright as all reflectors on genuine headlights are rusted.

Yes it does. You should be able to find them with some difficulty. I know Shahzeb has at least one. I have a pair of clear ones but if you are not too particular about originality and also considering that it is a totally reversible modification, you can go for a set of aftermarket Iranian set of lights that are originally for a Mercedes 411 or an early VW bus. Those should cost you about Rs.5000 for a set, they are new (hence good reflector) and have a parking light too plus a wire guard or glass protector of sorts.

You are welcome. Try Moqeem Autos in rawalpindi or may be even Sarwar autos. I am not aware of their stock level but they each had a few sets at one time. If you buy from elsewhere please be aware that you should NOT pay more than Rs.5500 for a pair.

welcome back Sam. You are always missed. It would be sad to see another through bred leave the shores of Pakistan for UK (we just saw an early bay shipped to the UK after restoration.) but it would be nice if it reunites its caring owner than remaining parked under covers another year. Let me know if you need help and I will send it over in no time.
