On page three youll find a nice diagram schematic showing the plug wire connections.
Btw if you want to ask tech qs I think better do it in the post you threw up showing the bug being separated from the floor (cant find it myself at the moment)
Regarding plugs, VW uses Bosch W8AC plugs. There are other compatible ones too. I have always used the Bosch ones so I dont know which ones. We had this discussion sometime in the not too distant past in one of the VW topics here. Go thru as many posts as you can, youll be enlightened.
The ignition coil is wired as follows:
The thick High Tension cable of course goes to the distributor cap.
Positive end of the coil is connected to a wire which is LIVE all the time once the ignition is switched on (even to the first initial position).
Negative goes to the condensor fit onto the distributor body. The wire along with the clip would come with the condensor if you purchase a genuine Bosch item (higly recommended).
I strongly suggest you retain the original wiring harness of your VW. Hope you had not thrown it out while removing the body. The genuine 40 year old wires are much better than brand new stuff bought off shelf today provided its not been messed around too much by our mostly jahil electrician bhais.
As far as Mileage goes....I think a decent expectation from a 1500 motor would be 7 or 8 Km to the litre. May be less in a lightweight buggy of course. Depends on a lot of things.....weight of vehicle, condition of engine, carb condition n specs, tuning etc etc.
I think all these replies shuold be cut n pasted onto your topic and that shuold be kept alive with your qs and comments by ppl.
@ daredevil
Please dont sound so desperate. I suggest you kick that Accord out of your home and give your bug some TLC.
Best regards to all.
