My uncle had a 91 model 740 here. He bought it from embassy rather than buying some civic or corolla. Thats way back in 1996. It was 3.8 5 cylinder engine (i can be wrong). It always felt so well built and safe. It ended up in a frontal collision with a volvo truck but noone was hurt. Half of the car was under the truck. Truck had a broken front axle. (Try breaking that some time :)) Car was still visibly okay looking and had the side windows intact. It was back on road after getting new parts from abroad. Another Historic and memorable car for me. Used to think why japanese cannot come out with such safety and build quality.
Out of the new lot the XC90 and this hatchback are fantastic.
