@Voyager
Mazeed tasaweer post kijiya ga,Which psrt of the whole route is the most difficult one for driving n for poor cars :P.
& whts rent in Shangrilla as for normal income person can go thr for few days.
@voyager
hats off to your detailed explantory process and ofcourse the photography..my question is that do you think these routes (sorry i might be repeating this) can be accessed by a normal car eg:civic or corolla ? looking at the picture below I am a bit confused..but my father being an abdallian says they used to go to skardu either on their bikes or the datsun120y or somethin not sure but i am having doubts about this..if i should plan this considering my civic..
Guys I will get back to ur questions soon. Just boarding aircraft now for Kabul.
@oror and others skardu can be visited by all kind of cars. the cars I have used on different trips to skardu and hunza etc are as follows 1. margalla 2. civic 3. corrolla 2.0 D. And please note that a short wheelbase cars like mehran would be excellent. I took civic 1998 beyond skardu uptill Khaplu which is on the way to siachin. I took cj7 jeep with me also to go off the track like deosai plains, Shigar, upper kachura, satpara lake etc. That trip was back in 1998. there are some straight stretches on the kkh where I took my civic to 180 kmph in Karakoram Car Rally 2000. You must have seen clips of this rally on PTV, my car number was 21. Please note that the speed thing is not to encourage you to drive fast there but to give you the idea of the versitality of the great KKH.

@All
Sorry to suspend the posting and replying, as U may know my son had an accident. Alhamdulillah he is recovering and I will resume posting more pics.
@haroon9scotch
It’s a 1997 Model SSR-G Intercooled. I paid 1690000/- I know I paid a little more than the market price but the ride was not to let go. But U know if I like a ride then I go for it no matter if I pay a bit more than market price. Surfs were available also in between 1450000 to 1600000 but this one had an exceptional ride & was well maintained.
