For last few weeks occasionally I use to hear that typical sound of weak cv joint (left side), but then for days you will not hear anything. Other than that irritating sound there was no problem. This made me think that the inner joints were gone.
Anyway took the car to a workshop in Islamabad, the car was checked and according to them left cv joint was somewhat weak but will survive for sometime all I need to do is replace all the cv joint boots. Honestly, speaking I was not satisfied with the reply. Finally, decided to take the car to the famous Saeed Brothers (SBs) of Gawalmindi, Rawalpindi.
There I just asked SBs to check the car, this is what they did; remove whole front. According to them one just cannot check thoroughly without taking it out (was cautioned by fellow Pakwheels members about this tactic/behaviors of Saeed Brothers, but still I became a victim).
Once everything was on table, SBs said both the outer cv joints needs to be replaced. I asked them to just repair the exiting one and fit them back, but they said the old cv joint were so week that repairing those was not possible. Was in a situation of DO OR DIE. As I was sure that I am not going anywhere I decided to go for the best quality available cv joints.
Now the Golf is running on new cv joints, and while driving one can feel the difference.
My experience of Saeed Brothers: Well would say they are expensive, but I think they know what they are doing, lots of experience. Good thing, they have full range of parts but again I am sure much more expensive. In short, if you have some extra cash and don’t mind over spending, this is a good place to go, you don’t have to go around looking for parts or things and the work will be done in a very professional way.
