Mount Uhud and site of battle

This is the panorama of Mount Uhud, in front of which the second battle in Islam (the Battle of Uhud) took place in 3 AH. Of this mountain the Prophet (s.a.w.) declared, “This mountain loves us and we love it.” [Muslim]

Jabal Rumah

This small mountain in front of Mount Uhud is where the Prophet (s.a.w.) had positioned archers during the Battle of Uhud with the strict instructions not to move. It was the desertion of their posts by many of the archers on thinking the battle was over that led to a reversal of fortune for the Muslims in the war.

Martyrs of Uhud

The below pics show the enclosure, at the foot of Mount Uhud contains in the centre the graves of Hamza (r.a.), Abdullah bin Jasht (r.a.) and Mus'ab bin Umair (r.a.) who were all martyred in the Battle of Uhud. The rest of the martyrs of Uhud are also buried in this enclosure.

From this point. our driver/Guide wanted to go back to madina but I asked him to show me the cave of Uhad..He was reluctant to go there since saudi's don't like it and it may result in cancellation of his Aqama.. So he dropped me at a distance and drove his car back to the parking area....

I started walking my way to the cave ...

Masjid Fas'ah

These are the demolished remains of a masjid (mosque) at the foot of the mountain below the cave of Uhud. On the day of the Battle of Uhud the Prophet (s.a.w.) offered the Zuhar prayer here.

A closer look....It was looking like the saudi's have closed the enterence of the cave with a high wall of stones and cement...But what that baba ji is doing there ???? I decided to go up and have a close look....

I was right...The enetrance of the cave has been closed but there is still a small space on top from where a person can sneak into the cave...And that baba ji was waiting for his companions who went inside the cave and were coming out when I reached near the cave..

I stood there for a while thinking whether I should try to go in or not since the wall was about 12 feet high having 80 degrees of angle with a bit of rock climbing involved which I never had done before in my life.. Then decided to give it a try....

Cave of Uhud

This naturally formed cave, on the side of Mount Uhud facing Masjid-e-Nabwi is where the Prophet (s.a.w.) was taken for first aid after being wounded during the Battle of Uhud. He was carried there on the back of Talha (r.a.).
