how to do a proper swap?

1-Do ur homework about the engine you are planning to restore

2-Find the right guy for the engine and the right electrician

3-Stand behind him with a danda in ur hand

4-Use the danda if tries to make any jugars,Tries to make up any bull **** story

5- Get the engine check light installed first and check for any errors

6-Dont pay unless you have until it is error free

No the market is not getting ripe for honest work. The average joe is still stuck with "suzookee eff exx carburettor" in their head, aatometick ghear requires full replacement, there is nothing known as metallurgy and all these finicky bits are a "bewaqoof bananey ka tareeqa"

I gave up on the bad dealings where you have to deal with fake currency, false promises and general bad attitude. I had better things to do which rewarded more in less time.

you should have seen my home, at one point in time it looked more like a car repair shop, I even had a bench lathe in there. You should have seen the "stupid auntees" of the neighborhood complain to my mother. Some even asked her that is your son not "parha likha" like the other one. Some of my father's freinds questioned my father on my "stupid" hobbies - the local thaana also knew me as the nutcase who drives very silly cars. (e.g. test driving a car with no bumper/fenders/bonnet)

our desi society is very prudent, they feel ashamed in such work, I also have painted my house, installed A/Cs polished the floors, restained wood finish wardrobes etc etc. Its my life, my two hands and my will. I also had little "daawats" of my freinds in which we cooked biryani in a daig (bawarchi).........

It may have been a problem if you see 5 cars parked outside, two with their engines lying in my "annexe" - it was actually made as a store room but I used it for my own purpose later on, It was an airconditioned workshop

My lovely wife has thrown the towel on this matter - saying that Im very special (as in nutcase) - Lucky for me - my 2 yr old daughter loves to do what I do - e.g. if Im working on a car - she would help me (she would remove a tool from the workbench and stash it in her toy kitchen)

Do you think all this khawari u did was a mere khawari??? The amount of study you did and then implemented is a blessing itself. Now you sure are many times better in knowledge than the Ustaads who spent whole of thier life learning part of what you've learned in a matter of few weeks/months.

EURO-II has been made the standard in Pakistan. If they implement some strict emission rules in near future, guess who'll be the first to setup some EFI workshop and be successful straightaway? You or an Ustaad???

you yourself need to be more informed on the work than he is. I have seen some really idiotic jobs, e.g. I have seen an engine swap where the mount brackets were poorly made and would fracture every 3 months. Slicing off unibody stucture metal to make room is also seen - this causes the body to start flexing.

I have seen dog houses (trans tunnel) being broached, aka cut and expanded then rewelded with a graft of sheet metal to make room for the transmission for their "aasum 1UZ-FE" engine. Guess what starts to happen after a few months..

technically you can pay someone to shove a cummins 6BT in a car, what happens later is your headache.

I just swapped Mira 2007 with original 2007 engine, Pdrevious engine was screwed and transmission was 4 x 4. Replaced it now with 2 x 2 . But now getting a very low average of 12 kmpl. Engine looks to be fine , almost soundless, replaced engine and gear oil. Getting this average on low pedal without AC. What should be done? Someone said there might be issue of Engine Timing? Expert Opinion Required plz

you need to find someone who knows how to read the data pushed from your ECU,

for starters, scan it and record the activity graphs of the o2 sensor, Also see what the short and long term fuel trim is registering

Got it scanned, Everything was fine according to the Mechanic. Plugs were dirty, i was told to replace them with the IRIDIUM plugs. Chenged them yesterday. Being told will get 2 km / litre improvement. Fingers Crossed
