The reason is one of the welds of body joint have opened up , mainly due to accident , happened twice with me in my 2nd gen vitz , remedy , find the culprit joint and apply silicon over the joint ! U have done the right thing

I personally know spano's car it is non accidented, so no question of body joint welds opening up. I think with time there is wear and tear in the rubber flaps of the air vents due to environmental effects and also the vents open up gradually due to increasing mud accumulated at the mouth edges.

By accident i didnt mean any major accident , for example a car hits ur car from behind only bumper broken such thing causes stress in frame n bla bla

Waited for it to dry and then applied select on the flappy vent and put it on.

Good solution, but remember these flaps are there for a reason, including helping the AC system to prevent slight pressurization of the cabin when the blower is running on fresh air, and to prevent condensation. It is better to clean, lubricate and re-foam the ventilation flaps rather than sealing them.

I sealed one out of two flaps but I can remove silicon if I ever felt pressurisation ever.

You won't feel the pressurization, but the cabin airflow will be affected nonetheless. As long as the sealant is removable, it is an effective solution.

When I said pressurised. I mean that when I close the door with all windows closed. I will feel the difference. If there is any by closing 50% area of vent
