Any petrol engine will have more pickup than a diesel engine.
Reason: search "petrol homogeneous mixture" on google. Diesel engines csn never have this thing so they are slower... always.

You're making no sense. Here we are discussing only the two variants of the Toyota Fortuner. Facts are facts, and the diesel engine is more powerful than the petrol version. I'm sure the 2.4L 2GD-FTV would be slower than the 2.7L petrol...but that's not the engine that we have in Pakistan.

You were wrong about the oil change interval, and you're wrong about this too.

Whatever u say about oil changing interval, my seller (Toyota Ravi) say to change at 3000km, so i must change it as they say... U sell me from ur showroom giving me 5000km interval, i will obey u... since U have to give me the warantee claim then... Nothing more to say to you!!!

I sure hope to do that. Sadly, my parents have asked me to not buy a Fortuner now It seems that it's OK to invest money and buy a 1 Kanal plot or house but having SUVs triggers weird tax audits and negative eyes are attracted to why a 37 years old has a new SUV to his name even though I have all halal income and I have never done anything wrong. But my parents are afraid an that makes me uncomfortable to go with the decision. My parents are all educated and everything and they throughout our generations/family we have never had an SUV I made halal income and wanted to purchase this SUV so I can drive easily coz I am 6.5 foot tall and wanted to make my parents proud of what I have become based on my personal decisions of not pursuing a govt job and going for private sector with engineering degree. But sadly, if they are going to be worried all the time that makes me uncomfortable. I am also not sure what to do now. Otherwise I have had decided to go for Diesel Engine.

Honestly, I only bought a Fortuner because I needed a car asap and because I enjoy off-roading. I just moved back to Pakistan, and work in Karachi's SITE area, so I also contend with severely broken roads. If I didn't need it, I would have waited to see what Kia and Hyundai release next year. I'm willing to bet a Kia Santa Fe or Hyundai Sportage will be higher quality and much lower cost than the overpriced, locally built Fortuner.

From the p507 snapshot you shared isn’t it clear that 2500KMs is the recommended interval? They say South Africa, Russia and Thailand @ 5,000KMs. Others 2,500KMs
It is however a very elusive subject. I wish I could speak to someone reliable at Toyota. Like an engineer not a sales guy or service advisor

Bro, the normal service interval for 1GD is 10,000km or 6 months as written in the manual. For “severe duty” it’s 5,000km or 3 months. The “Others” is defined in the manual as the 5LE engine! Just read the manual and your questions will be answered.

Please 1. Change engine oil at 1500kms, diesel gaadi hai also do use same drain bolt washer forever, yeh jeniyan hai 2. Oil filter at every second oil change, 3. Diesel/Fuel filter every 3,000kms. or every second oil change as advised above, again diesel gaadi hai, pump kharba ho jaye ga 4. Never change air filter since it is jeniyaan, market main jeniyaan nahin milta 4. Never change differential ayal, it is jeniyaan too, if you change it your hissa will start producing awaz, 5. Add tap water in radiator upto "B" mark since "F" is for fools, 6. Remove thermostat, japani pagal hain, pata nahin garm mulkon main thermos vall kyn lagate hain 7. Never change gear oil, read recommendation in 4 above, 8. Always heat your engine by idling for about 30 minutes in the morning and rev your engine to red line when stopping always. This will lubricate your engine better. 9. Aur han brake ayal bhi kabhi tabdeel nahin karna, yeh bhi jenyan hai

The above are some of the recommendations which right now come into my mind. I will share some other useful tips too if I remember.

usman ansari, where are you getting your fortuner serviced. i got mine serviced at toyota central at 10k km. you are absolutely right about the periodic maintenance as its clearly mentioned in the manual. I wish people read their manual and also the 1gd engine is supposed to be slightly low maintenace as compared to the 1kd engine in the older revo.

Now im asking you this question because i got a call from Toyota central and they asked my that my oil change is due at 2500km. That sounds like complete bullshit. They're probably following the old manual or something. I too drive to site area for work so i dont mind changing it at 5k km but 2500km sounds just too soon.

Bhai. Problem in not following toyota's recommendation is the warantee issue. I have 1gd revo (well its my company's pool car), and toyota walton (lahore) asks to change every 3000km. I put similar argument of changing after 5000km but then the aftersales guy said (بے باکی سے): sir then engine problems (if any) under warantee wud not be entertained by us since you are bound to follow our maintenance charts.
So better to get it very clear with ur toyota motor before u decide something on ur own. Up to u.

I purchased at Toyota Central as well, and they called me when I was around 2500km, but they said it was due because it had been three months. I told them that the manual clearly said 6 months is the recommended service interval and that shut them up.

I will take it to them in another thousand km, when I hit 5k. Normally I’d wait till 7.5k, but it currently has the factory fill of Toyota Dezon and it will be around 6 months, so I’ll take it to them along with my Caltex Delo 400 MGX. They’ve already said that it’s fine if I bring my own oil, as long as it’s suitable for Diesel engines.

If Toyota Central starts talking about warranty issues, tell them to get it in writing from Indus Motors why the manual is incorrect. They’ll quickly backtrack and say it’s ok and they’ll change your oil at the correct interval.

People don’t realize that changing too frequently isn’t a gold thing either. Early on in the oils life, the detergents are doing their cleaning, and then later on the antiwear additives start laying down their protective layer on the high pressure areas of the engine. Changing oil too frequently can mean you miss letting the antiwear additives do their job.

Following the manual will NEVER void the warranty. The manual clearly says 5000km for SEVERE duty, otherwise 10,000km. That means in the worst case, you change at 5000km...but I don’t think even Karachi roads equal the worst case, so you should be fine somewhere between the two intervals.
