What does triptronic actually mean and how it works?

Those gears are more electrical than mechanical, meaning less parts moving:)

Say you drive in the semi-auto mode, and you change from 1st to 2nd gear with a little push of the gear knob/paddle shifter, it sends an electrical signal to the gear box which changes the gear depending if you're up-shifting or down-shifting.

this part I want to know. Maybe u have enginer background, so if you have any pdfs or circuit diagram or other diagrams from the internet...or just tell me where to look for a "blueprint" of a working auto transmission. A cad file (solid works/catia/inventor/autocad etc) will also work.
dont bother writing lengthy post , wasting time, just tell me where to look...I'll find it.

No I dont know how an auto actually works. I figured out how the torque converter works. but dont know what the gearbox looks like or how it changes gears automatically.

the shifts are actually different clutches driving ratio from the planetary gearsets, 4 spd has 2 planetary sets, and hence can get 4 forward speeds and 1 reverse.

To best understand it look up aisin transmission working of toyota FWD gearbox, (like the one used in xZE-xxx corolla) - they are full electric shift with partial lockup torque converter and also have a line pressure control force motor. The PCM does not allow manual shift but it can be easily understood. To make it more easy look up GM 4T65E or any similar box internal workings.

Once sorted you just have to place a shiftable PCM and you get your manual shift autobox.

This is an explanation of the 722.6xx transmission made by mercedes benz. It is fully electronic, having 5 forward ratios and 2 reverse ratios and a variable lockup torque converter.

The valve body diagram is separate and explains the placement of the shift solenoids, rpm sensors, overlap valves, modulators, spring buffer etc.

This transmission is equipped in many cars of MB, in my 2000 E320 the shift gate has a manual shift (tiptronic if you want to name it) - by moving the lever left and right -/+ the gears from 1 to 5 - the 2nd reverse ratio (lower) is engaged in W (wet) mode to prevent wheel spin and the ESP guillotine slicing off the engine power, when in W it also starts in 2nd gear.

I drive in S (standard) as I like my shifts firm and taut.

The gearbox model difference is that the 580 can handle 580 nm of torque, used behind big powerful engines, and the 330 is used behind smaller engines.

the way it operates is very simple - but the logic sequence in the EGS (electronic gearbox system module) is quite complex. This EGS can actually measure the resultant torque its handling from the engine and apply shift quality and timing accordingly. It also broadcasts over the CAN and the ESP committee then allows how much power is transferred as the ESP looks at steering angle, body roll and vibration.

lets take the old corolla taaron waala aato gear sola wall injun walaa.

it has manual shift quality control (cable to adjust shift agression) tied to the throttle cable.
but it has electronic shift in all forward gears and also has an on/off converter lockup also electronic.

you can manually ride the gearbox in the 4 gears by playing with the solenoid wiring (thats how its actually tested) - If you can make a controller for this then its very easy, but the controller should reset and revert to aatometuck at anything below 40 km/h

anyway - to make sense of it

shift solenoid 1 = s1
shift solenoid 2 = s2
lockup = s3

gear 1 = s1 on s2 off
gear 2 = s1 on s2 on
gear 3 = s1 off s2 on
gear 4 = s1 off s2 off

At stationary condition if the above condition is set. Does the car will start with 2nd gear?

I have tiptronic transmission in my car while stationary if I keep selector in 2 using +/- what it does is that it starts in 1st and shift normally to second and stays there until the throttle redlines.
This is no 2nd start or W condition.

the shift solenoid sequence is a standard toyota gearbox and not for the MB gearbox. The MB gearbox uses 1 solenoid to shift 1-2 and one to shift 3-4 then another sequence to select 4-5

your toyota gearbox will start in 1st even in 2 range but will limit to 2nd ratio. Its designed as such. If you can manually override the system to energize both solenoids it will remain in 2nd ratio regardless of other parameters when the shift lever is in D

Is this true that to avoid the energy loss the TC mechanically locks the drive output shaft after certain speed? This bypasses the energy route of fluid coupling?

Yes - the lockup is actually a clutch inside the converter that locks the turbine to the impeller, it is achieved by raising return line pressure from the converter, No slppage occurs as you are on solid drive (great for fuel economy) but you also get increased NVH with it.
