So removing the catalytic converter will improve the fuel efficiency of the car?

the exhausts systems on new engines are actually tuned extractor headers except for a scant few oddball models. Read on the relation of sound waves and energy - you will start to get the idea. Its a very boring subject.

Got it ! ... So basically what does it is, create pressure pattern in sync with the requirement at the valves. This effectively generates negative pressure downstream when exhaust valves are open, and performing even better than an open header. That's not boring at all

Thanks for all the answers. I myself do not want to remove it or not remove it. I was just entertaining the idea of getting it removed if that increases fuel efficiency, acceleration and power. I remember reading here on PW people talking about removing CATs from their cars so I just asked here if that is something I should do too.

I am getting 10 KM/L with continuous AC on Nissan Pino manual gears. I was expecting at least 17 as it is 660cc + manual gears. Can somebody help out?

you can improve it a little but not on the figures of 17 for the result's first get your vehicle AFR tested if it is stioch range then it is normal to have 10 in a liter if it is abnormal then the repair procedure's will help to improve it contact RT if you are in Rawalpindi or islamabad

get the car tuned properly mileage will for sure increase! this is way to low...!

check the mileage with the A/C on!

I was lead to believe by many people, many from PW as well, that I can easily expect 17 on a manual transmission 660CC. 10-11 is way too low for a manual 660cc. The sole purpose to change a car was to get better consumption

Bhai i recon you try both! atleast if get the same answer from both the techs your prob is solved otherwise one of your mechs is cheating!

google for the AFR (Air to Fuel Ratio ) it is ratio which is measured that after combustion what is the rate of oxygen in the exaust gases it has now ranges the ideal combustion ratio is 14.7 below this point the fuel mixture is rich eg. 13.2, 12.5.... and above than this point the fuel mixture is lean eg. 15.0,16.9, 18.2 etc so to get optimized fuel economy the AFR should be at 14.7 if you are not getting the best fuel milage may be the AFR is low due to many reasons but first someone has to measure it before servicing out the engine. these engine are not like ke (janab plug change kar do aur air filter change kar do ya tunning karwa lo to fuel milage improve hoo jaye gi). pmeing you the contact of RT.

yup your right these machines require much care! diagnosis is difficult
