Recently I managed to get a thermostat installed and an auto switch wired for my charade CB 23 Engine. For the first time I saw the hitherto fore dormant temp needle rise and the fan kicked at a little below half way. I was happy and drove back home some 15 kms in Khi. Once I switched off and passed by the bonnet, I heard gurgling near the reservoir end. I figured that since I had shut the engine and stopped circulation of the water in the circuit without giving any cooling time, the heat made trapped water boil and vent through the neck passage to the reservoir. So I ran the engine for another about 5 mins, that solved the problem. I revisited the mech and told him about the episode. He opened the valve train cover and tightened around six bolts that held the lower blocks, (probably to seal any gasket leaks??), and recommended using a coolant instead of water, now that the system was hotwired and pressurized in a sense. I agreed and a coolant bottle was emptied half into the radiator neck, only after draining the radiator from the drain bolt in the bottom (only the radiator and not the engine water body). Away I went satisfied. A week has passed. Car has been tpt over a truck to me at Pindi now (did not drive up - due time compulsions). I noticed gurgling again yesterday night. 2-3 mins of cooling time at idle solved the problem as usual. no other unusual over temp issue during running. Have driven considerable distances in low gear, low speed settings in Pindi.
Do I need to check anything or is it ok?
