My project is going at snails pace . but is going as expected. Frame has been repaired reinforced. Body tub denting in progress (EDC July 30)

Roacky leaf springs

Hope to teat the ride in August end and get it completed by Mid Sept

Lastly , Got a toyota 9000 lb winch from chaman border in great condition BUT it will not fit my CJ :$. thinking of a major modification or an exchange :S

well im a newbie to the 4x4 world, and have a few questions in mind.

firstly what is recommended for amateurs like me. obviously price plays an important factor since the money will not pour out of my pocket, obviously my fathers.

i think i will try to get hold of one once i am able to get my father round the fact that a slow off roader is safer than a fast car on the road.

I have one question; regarding a rusting issue. I m in Karachi, here rust eat up the cars.

I have read a article about restoring a CJ7 on internet. They restored their old CJ7 from zero. The thing which really inspire me was; Fiber Glass body for CJ7 which was build on order. Can we do same here or can we order that to Pakistan? if yes How? any info about cost? or suggestion regarding Fiber Glass Body.

Bro it's been a while since iv'e been thinking to get a 4x4 as a second car but due to zero knowledge and a bit of shortage of time was unable to do so. what i want is something with good looks and should be reliable, regarding the perfomance na maine bhagani hai aur na hi koi ziada off roading waghaira krni hai. I want something like the one in the pics below, nice, clean and WADDAY TYREs ;p. Aur bas yeh ho k jagga jagga band na ho jaye. Can u plz guide me as to what to get and plz tell me k what wud be the cost of building.

Nice article with some insightful points. Somehow, I missed this thread earlier.

Not quite sure what these pics are doing here though, as they were all taken at Awan Brothers home workshop near Harley Street. On both Jeeps body work was by Ustad Jamil Awan and mechanicals were Farooq Awan.

The white CJ7 was commissioned by our friend Mohsin with a Dodge V8 ~5.0L petrol engine mated to a Surf transmission. The 35inch BFG tires were added to keep the original CJ diffs with 4.1 ratios from excessively spinning out. Mohsin sold the Jeep to some enthusiast in Mardan who happily runs it on CNG.

Looking at pics of the golden FJ40 done by master denter Jamil Awan I am once again impressed and rather blown away at the ingenuity and precision of those fender flares. Amazing original design and perfect execution without any AutoCad or sample pics, as they say "Ustad, Ustad hee hota hai!"

The Awans are currently working on two of their CJ7s which they are looking to sell soon.

@ khi guy : rust prevention starts from bare metal . In Khi atmosphere , get hold of a sand blasting gun . once rough sandblasted , spray a primer like red oxide . Now whatever u do afterwards , the metal base stands preserved and most likely ur will not experiance rust . Rust also starts with excessive saline water washing that we are mostly tuned to . TC

My dear friends . I did not and why on earth will i do that ??????? I am not a dealer , businessman or even looking for taking credit . Will not take credit away from anyone as cannot stoop down to such "degrades'. BTW , farooq is known to me very well . U can go ask him . I am sure he will tell u otherwise .

ON A lighter note : my CJ 7 project got completed in 1 yr 16 days . Thanks to Nikko Bhai , Mehmood Ustad (Doc) , Khanno ( Devtor) , Mulla ( electrition) . Did some off roading , drove arond , burned rubber , did 140 kmp on motor way in 4 th gear ( btw 100 kph is more than enough for a CJ ). Am having fun on a dream machine come true.
