A Week on the wrist: Casio G-Shock Mudmaster GWG1000
So I have had this watch for a week now. During this week, I have tried its various functions, and worn it to different occasions. This review is about how I feel about this watch after wearing it for a week.
First of all, I have 5 other watches apart from this. This is my 6th addition to the collection. I usually wear a watch whenever I am going out, whether for work, party or anything in between. However, since a few years I stopped wearing watches indoor; partially due to discomfort, partially to avoid getting scratches on them.
Since I got the Casio G-Shock Mudmaster GWG-1000-1A3, I have been unable to put it down.
The love has grown for it since the first few hours and days. So much so that, I have been sleeping with it. Literally! During this time, I have only taken it off for showers, although given its water tightness, it was not necessary.
During this time, I have come to realise what a beast this watch is. Not only it looks great on your wrist, it can be left sitting on the desk, and it still does not fail to impress. Such is the beauty in its details. Speaking of details, lets get the specifications out of the way first.

Now that the specifications are out of the way, lets talk a little about its presence. This watch has a presence. Huge presence on your wrist. If you wear it, you know you wore it. If you saw someone wearing one, you know they are wearing it. It’s the kind of presence, which does not go unnoticed. And for good reason too. Although, I chose to go for the less flashy military green option (GWG-1000-1A3), it sports in my opinion the most beautifully detailed dial with carbon fiber second hand. There is a slight play with colors here, as the function and second hands are in bright yellow. The kind, which reminds you that this watch is equally fit for outdoor tasks. There is definitely devil in the details here.
The 3,6,9 and 12 are all in pure white as are other hourly markers, with strong luminance. The luminous parts of the dial and the Arabic numbers brighten up in darkness. In addition, the dial also features a double LED for illuminance. One LED is embedded in the negative display, and the other one sits behind number 6. The brightness of the illuminator is not great, however, they are not supposed to be torches.
The resin band is military green in color, a subtle green color at that. The green color is not entirely visible in darkness, and can be mistaken for black. That adds to the mystique of its color. The buckle and keeper are made of some sort of clear steel and finished in brushed steel in some places and polished in other.
All in all, this has been a great purchase. Although, I have a desk job, I am finding excuses to wear it even with my dress shirts...
