Driving in New Delhi through the fog is really tedious. I tried and quickly retreated to the comfort of the passenger seat. New Delhi is choc-a-bloc with exotics , high end sedans/SUV's and such. If not for the Auto Show and a trip to check out the Taj Mahal i would have been in hog heaven clicking away and checking out these cars which are parked almost any street!. Anyways, you never know what i'll come across in Chennai tomorrow. I'm going to test drive the BEAT and will have a report soon. Actor Saif Ali Khan officially released the BEAT at the New Delhi Auto Show. The GM pavillion put on a nice show for all to enjoy. Later..

Yes!. And it was one of the two displays that i missed at the New Delhi Auto Show and i'm still kicking myself for it!. Even if i couldn't take pics as i had run out of battery juice, i wouldn't have missed it for anything 'xcept my memory which failed me. I simply forgot about the Bajaj/KTM and Harley displays.

I spent today in Pondicherry with a coworker visiting from the Big Apple and had grilled swordfish with herb rice garnished with grilled eggplant and carrots for lunch at the Promenade restaurant along with the crisp lettuce with vinegrette and baby tomato salad, washed down with ice cold Foster's beer. To die for.burp...

Regular updates on new car releases and spottings coming soon. Also, i'm moving the 2010 New Delhi Auto Show thread to this forum, while i can , as it contains info on the new car releases on the Indian auto market for 2010, which is of interest to many viewers.

It's official and i'm hooked. On the BEAT. Till the new Swift shows up in June this car will be the 'focus car' of this thread. In the coming months i will profile this car as much as i can. For the money(RS3.35-4.35lacs list price) there's a lot of car. A 1200cc engine for starters, loads of interior space, funky styling, equipment levels, superior fit and finish and the gear shift is as smooth as butter is.

A V6 makes all the difference to the Accord. I've driven one, so i know. Below are some cars i like that i came across while roaming around in Chennai on Saturday. One of the TATA dealers called me up and told me to visit his showroom if i want a sneak peak at the ARIA. Nice of him to remember me and i might just do that soon and have some pics of the car for you.Later..

Local TATA dealers reporting 85% inventory sold of the Manza sedan in first month of sales here. The Chevy Cruze is also selling well acc. to the Chevy dealers i spoke to. They seemed a happy lot.Swift LXi is now RS4.02lacs ex-showroom , Chennai!.

How is the Tourag selling in India ? here they launched it many years back and while initially the sales were good over the years I have not seen too many of the newer models on the roads and the 2nd hand ones sell at a discount compared to say the X5's. I see it more like a Jeep competitor here perhaps with better build and service quality though Personally I like the more old fashioned SUV look of the Tourag and its a bit more affordable for me compared to the X5 or the Range Rovers.

Well Toureg belongs in the Q7 and X5 territory where I think its quite competitive. The VW vehicle in the X3 and Q5 category is called the Tiguan which is going to be released in India shortly. As far as Pagero and Prado are concerned, well you can't compare them price wise with German cars, can you?
