the Honda Brio and TATA Manza were on display at Express Avenue Mall, the only public space i visited today.

the ad team were busy organizing silly contests instead of letting mall goers check out the cars. winners did get a gift from Honda, though and Honda is bouncing back quite nicely in this market, i might add.

2012 Hyundai(India) Sonata

First impressions are the best impressions and i was smitten at the New Delhi Auto Expo. Now i've had the opportunity to check this car out up close and i love it. What a change from the previous model!. The fit, finish and ergonomics is german standard available at a Korean price. All i can say is i'm very impressed and though prices are not official yet, i was told approx. RS18lacs ex-Chennai. I will add more details after a test drive. For now, my crappy showroom pics below.

It's funny how I was talking to my friend about the new i-20 facelift only yesterday. His little sister wants one for her 18th, and upon enquiring with our local dealer, he found out that the top-of-the-line diesel (with sat. nav. etc) would cost upto 9 lakhs here. Too much? I think so...

The facelifted i20 has been released and prices are between 4.75lacs and 7.5lacs for the top of the line diesel , so quite competitive i think. The car will be at my nearest Hyundai dealer tomorrow and i'll drop in and get more info. I like the looks of the facelift atleast on paper.

2012 Hyundai(India) i-20 facelift

Hyundai's family hatch gets a mid-life makeover and a really refreshing one, i say. The theme is the new 'fluidic' design element and does fit in quite well over the existing shape. A new center console and better ergonomics ensures that this best seller will continue to sell well and stand up to the likes of the Maruti Swift , upcoming Chevy SAIL , TATA Vista, VW Polo et al in this market. Good job , Hyundai. As usual, my crappy showroom pics below.

for the last time with three of my fav new cars in the market here as i sign off in this thread. there are many indian auto websites nowadays where one can get info on all the happenings so there is really no reason for me to keep posting pics/info here and therefore it is time to wind this down.

Mahindra has launched the XUV 700 which is a successor to the XUV 500.

It has been made available in 4 variants-

MX
AX3
AX5
AX7

There will be optional packages available in addition to the above variants. The SUV will be available in 5 and 7 seater options with both manual and automatic options.

AWD will be available with the diesel.

The diesel will have a power output of 185 PS with 420NM torque for the manual and 450NM torque for the automatic.

The petrol will have a whooping 200 PS of power with 380NM of torque.

The 0-100 for the petrol is around the 9 second mark and around the 10 second mark for the diesel.

The pricing are as follows-

The pricing for the diesels, the AX7 variant, the automatics and the AWD will be revealed in the coming weeks.

With this price, they are aiming right from the compact SUVs like WRV to mid sized SUVs like the Creta to bigger SUVs like the MG Hector, Tata Safari and the Tucson at the higher end.

Glad to see an Indian company launching a product with such an aggressive price point with such features and power figures.
