Here are some new releases this week in the Indian auto market. Starting with preview covers of a couple of auto magazines. Autocar(India), Overdrive(India), BBC TopGear(India) and other better car mags don't photo well as their pages are too glossy. They do have some good stuff that i'd like to share. Anyways, here goes...What's new this week!.

Sidelight-This is the car i really liked, the Skoda Laura(named so in Indian market only) Laurent & Klement designer edition. Pity they had it parked where i couldn't take more pics.The fit and finish is designer cool in this car.Performance too, with a Jetta diesel in it.

Moving on to the next new release, TATA Motors' Xenon...

2009 TATA Xenon pickup 4X2-TATA commercial dealers in Madras haven't received showroom display vehicles yet, but test cars have arrived from Pune!. The car in the photos is a 4X2 and comes equipped with TATA's famed DiCor engine that does duty in the Safari and other utility vehicles by them. This is the basic model and costs INR8.4lac on the road, inclusive of taxes etc.,.

I think i can give myself an award for making things look worse than they actually look!.:d. This truck gets a 'B-' grade from me but the possibilities for pimping are endless and TATA Motors offers a comprehensive accessories list to make this truck bling!. This truck is manufactured in TATA Motors' factories in Thailand and India.

This is a dilemma many Indian new car buyers in the mid-size segment are facing re: these two models, the City and the Linea. One is much bigger but has a smaller capacity engine(high output, though) and the other is smaller but has the faster engine. Take a look and make up your own minds!. What would you buy?.

See the 'golden guy' with his arm up in the pic?. He's the late Chief Minister of this state who invited Jackie Stewart ways back when in the 1970's to design the Madras Motor Sports Club Track, which is scheduled to host the FIM Asian Grand Prix this year!. I thought i'll give him a mention in appreciation, for making my stay here all the more enjoyable.

And, the NANO!. The Nano is releasing for sale to the public March 23 and i'll be leaving March 16th. Bummer.I won't be able to bring you showroom pics at release time,, but for those following the Indian car scene here, the link below gives an idea of how TATA Motors is going about vending the Nano in this vast country.
