The motorcycle sales for the fiscal year 2009/10 recorded a staggering increase of 53% over the previous year, the sales for the year 2009/10 were 1.30 million units as against 85,000 units for the previous year.
The Honda motorcycles was the top selling brand in 2009/10 recording sales of 483,151 units, this is an increase of 38% over the previous year when Honda’s sales stood at 349,892 units. Honda now has 37% of the market share.
The sale of Yamaha bikes recorded a mind boggling 82% increase over the previous year, to 120,953 units in the year 2009/10 from 66,496 units in the previous year. Yamaha now enjoys 9% of the market share.
The Suzuki bike sales in the year 2009/10 were 17,437 units, an increase of 14% from the previous year’s sales of 15,326 units.
Pakistani brands Hero and Ravi each sold more units than Suzuki.
Hero increased their sales by 82% over the previous year, selling 36,166 units in 2009/10 as against 19,818 units the previous year.
Ravi bikes sold 23,304 units in 2009/10 whilst in 2008/09 their sales were 18,457 units, an increase of 26%.
