Where to invest 26 million rupees?

Salam All,
My father got some defence Saving certificates made a decade or so ago from the golden hand Shake he received and some amount that he received from older certificates. The certificates are about to mature next week and the total amount is going to be around 26+ million rupees. Considering that my father is 70 years old, can you people suggest where should he invest the amount now since the rates on certificates are quite low these days. Please keep in mind that he's a heart patient and I'm the only son and live at a 20 hours distance in Lahore so he won't be able to do a tiring job, though he can hire a few trusted people if needed. The amount is flexible to a couple million so please guide accordingly.

26+ million. Depends on what sort of investment you are looking at:

1. Property makes the most sense, it appreciates and you can rent it out as well.

Either buy commercial property - shop etc and rent it out
Buy residential property - rent it out (can be a house or an upscale apartment)

Since you are living in Lahore and I presume, have a job, buy a house. You can live in the house but pay the rent to your father. You can utilize the top portion or ground portion for rent as well. This way you can control the tenants, collect the rent and deposit it in your father's account.

Don't even think about stock exchange unless you know what you are doing which i doubt
Commercial property is your best bet but it might not be available in 26 m in dha..look in bahria and Lease it to a bank and you are good from there

What do you mean by lease it to a bank? Do you mean that I should get a property and negotiate with a bank to open a branch there? That seems like a nice Idea. I guess something like that in Karachi would work quite well, only the investment needs to be doubled.

Is stock exchange really that risky? I'm not talking about trading in stocks, I'm talking about purchasing stocks and getting dividend on it for long term.

Yah i mean rent in to a bank . they will renovate them self..you just need to give them structure so you save cost and no hassle for rent collection unlike private parties
Banks are always hungry to open a branch provided the location is good..if the budget is more then 70-80m i would suggest you dha but in 25-30m bahria would be a safe bet unless you get same in dha

i can explain in details but its boring in short it goes like this

you me and others are small fish in a large pond, bigger fishes are deep in, every once in a while they come up and eat all other small fishes and then they go back in hibernation

they are market movers and before you know it, you would lost all the capital as your holding power is no where near them, they can hold billions where we can barely hold millions.

and there is a good amount of inside trading and profit selling which leave small investor very very vulnerable

and whatever you do, be careful .. you are a student so i am assuming you are young, if anything is too good to be true, it means it doesn't exist .. in matters of money, trust NO ONE :D.. double triple check prices, papers and other minor details by yourself and others before making any decision
