now that we know the playing field.
keep driving the civic you have. I have owned VW, MB and BMW, Im not an audi fan. - let me examplify you some experiences from my old Mercedes (W210) - It was misfiring at 5200 rpm which was resolved by redoing one cylinder head including a new cam for that head too - one lifter was bad which ate through one camlobe. - This was because the previous owner was an angus sized dumbass.
my 2012 BMW X5 - faced a broken fan belt problem which escalated to a partial truck teardown as I had to remove pieces of the belt from inside the engine sump and oil pump. To remove the sump requires dropping the front differential which means removing the press fit axles from the hubs, then supporting the massively heavy steer rack (it has Active steering), slinging the engine, removing the subframe, dropping the sump out, cleaning everything out - install a bunch of new parts like O rings, gaskets and bolts (yes bolts are aluminium one time use only)
this job on a civic doesnt exist - and if it does, takes at max a couple of hours. On the BMW its 20 hours labour with access to hydraulic table, engine sling, power tools and speciality ones including hydraulic unit to push axle from hub.
that failure happened due to a 5 dollar gasket on the oil cooler which drenched the belt and ate it off.
point is.
they are pretty nice to drive - but have a different approach to ownership - the BMW design is moronic that it eats the fan belt if it breaks - but the ferocious brute torque of that engine and its 8 spd automatic along with its driving feel is worth that headache.
same with benz, they are fantastic to drive - just have some incredibly weird designs which are nothing odd globally - but very odd for Pakistan as most people still dont believe in torque to yield fasteners or just plain diagnosis (meaning - aslee fault pakarna purza khareedne se pehlay - purza badal ke check karna is not diagnosis) - and hope someone can use old technique of listen/look to find extreme deep level faults (which is not possible) - e.g. no amount of hearing can tell you a transmission speed sensor is dead - and neither can a cheap one component ECU scan tool tell you that either.
people also tend to baby these cars a lot in Pakistan - and hand it over to driver or servant for them to grind away the paint everyday while driver farts in it. These cars are kept best when run like an everyday car - this may require deep pockets if you are not somewhat tech savvy.
