I agree 100%. I have researched about Civic 8th generation. It has one of the most reliable engines - 1.8L R18A1. The car engine has the record to have crossed 1 million miles in the US. No Corolla holds that record. Moreover, it has been reported in a survey to be more fun to drive as compared to a similar model Corolla. Plus it looks more attractive than the Civic 9th and the toy car - Civic X.
The other car I would recommend is Suzuki Swift. You can get a good condition Swift 2013/2014 in about 13 lacs. And the resale value of the car is great. The best thing about the car is the
1.3L (1300cc) M13A I4 engine. For a hatchback, this is excellent power to body ratio. Moreover, it has EPS so power steering maintenance would not be an issue. In reviews by Pakwheels and OmerArshad, the reviewers have praised the car's excellent acceleration. In road races, it was easily able to beat Vitz and Corolla 1300 cc.
The new cars Alto, WagonR, Faw, Celerio (Cultus) and even Civic X 10th generation are junk cars with exorbitant prices. Buying a JDM is not recommended due to poor resale value and high maintenance.
I also plan to buy a Swift or Civic Reborn in a few months in the same budget. These were the only best value cars I was able to pin point after months of research within 11-18 lacs budget. I plan to keep the car for 5-7 years and then buy a Yaris or City 2022+ inshallah.
