I have the same car, GLi 2007. And I have somewhat upgraded the lighting system as per my taste & liking.
Low beam:
The low beam bulbs are called 9006 or HB4. I have intalled genuine Philips RallyVision purchased from Babar bhai @smartdevil_striker. The upgraded bulbs are of 70watts while the factory fitted were 51watts.
The light is more than enough with genuine cut-off hence does not affect on-coming traffic.
Do I recommend these? Absolutely yes, these are the best upgrade in Halogens.
Iām posting below some on-road results of the upgraded bulbs. Sadly I didnāt capture the result of factory bulbs so not a really good before/after. But the naked eye feels the difference in person.
Low beam (9006/HB4) Philips RallyVision 70watts:
Beam Cut-off:
Upgraded Low beam vs. Stock high beam (low switched off when on high):
High beam
The high beam bulbs are called 9005 or HB3. I have installed Kaier brand (cheap Chinese) LEDs in the high beam for shashkaa purpose & specially the instant flash effect for dipper. (LEDs illuminate faster than halogens.)
They are good for their price i.e. Rs. 1800/- (in Sep-22).
But obviously cannot compare to high-end expensive ones. Their light is OK but the beam spread is a bit scattered and hence a bit glary for on-coming traffic.
PS: I donāt use high beam all the time, only for dipper purpose when necessary & on highway when no one is coming from the opposite direction.
Do I recommend these? For the budget, (under Rs. 3,000/-) these are good value for money & get the job done.
On-road results of High beam (9005/HB3) stock bulbs: (please note that my headlight switch was faulty at this time as turning on the high beam would cause the low beam bulbs to turn off and only high beam bulbs would stay on. So you might notice only upward area lit. I got the switch fixed later.)
High beam (9005/HB3) Kaier LEDs: (there was some mistake on my part while installing the LEDs as I didnāt adjust at the correct angle, hence you might notice the right side is a bit out of direction. I fixed that later & the light spread became equally good as the left side.)
A comparison of high/low beams upgraded:
The factory ones are fairly sufficient, but for added visibilty on highway & much dark areas one can upgrade to a higher color temperature and/or higher wattage bulbs for own satisfaction.
The ideal setup for high beam in my opinion will be getting 100watts halogen bulbs installed (the factory ones are 60watts). But Iām skeptical in as those might be an overkill & maybe harmful for the wiring, headlight switch & reflectors.
PS: Iāll try to get photos of all 4 upgraded beams working & will share with you.
For now, posting this screenshot from a video:
Hope this helps.
