Which oil should b used for baleno 2003

The localized manual which I received when it was purchased 19 years ago stated 10w40 viscosity round the year.I have driven 150k kms on the same grade all this time and car runs like a champ.We should leave viscosity recommendation to the car manufacturers who designed the car.Apni science nai jharni chaiyae.

You buddy just said the golden words. The manufacturer has made the engine so they know what is better for it.

@poster at your mileage do not switch over from mineral oil to synthetic oil as your seals may start leaking.

incase you choose to change the brand of oil ensure that you also change the oil filter at the same time since 7 years I'm stuck with Shell Helix HX 7

Oil viscosity or grade are interchangeable terms,you should know that.It is always recommended to follow viscosity recommendation of
the manufacturer as different engines have different oil clearance values.They test their built engines extensively and recommend a grade to be followed upon..Even the chart above relates that 10w40/10w50 oils can be used for the same climatic temperatures.What differs is that the latter is more thick than former at optimum temperature.Their flowability is different.The point is we should leave this matter to the experts.Every car has different requirements and we should follow what manufacturer quotes by book

Daewoo is OHC engine with hydraulic lifters/tappets.Idk about baleno but they are somewhat similar engines (non adjustable tappets) if you say so

FOr cars with lifters api sg/sf(enough zddp) grade oils can be used but one should stick to viscosity stated by manufacturer.

Daewoo racer uses hydraulic lash adjusters for rockers to zero the tappet gap and give a completely silent running engine, they are like the ones found on mitsubishi 4g63 The baleno has screw adjustable flat tappets and require high zddp oil.

In any car with hydraulic adjusters the recommended oil is pretty lightweight because we need a great deal of oil flow to pump the hydraulic elements, heavy oil does not like to pump quick enough.

havoline formula is 10w-30. so it is not old school to 10w40.

i have g15a engine in baleno using SG grade oil 20W-50 Havoline Formula

Please reread the post ..The poster was referring to old school oils i.e 20w50 high zddp ones..I was not even talking about 10w30..Regards.For daewoo racer 10w40 is the right oil grade.

10w30 is not recommended for daewoo.The car was not designed to run on such oil.The new gen cars have a requirement of 5w30 viscosity in general.

Sir ji what old school oil you are referring to..All cars after 1988 came with a minimum recommendation of 10w40 oil..My daewoo which is a 1993 model recommends 10w40 oil..Baleno should be the same or better..

your daewoo wasn't made specifically for Pakistani market. it is recommended to use a thicker viscosity oil in hotter weather.

First time on pw i have to requote statements to prove a point.It is all a general misunderstanding from your side.I advised to op to used grade recommended by manufacturer
