They don't take 9-10A consistently, which is the biggest ignorance spread by PW inverter-phobiacs.
Once room temperature is achieved, they cycle on and off repeatedly to maintain temperature. Like our non inverters run at 9-10A continuous for first 1-2 hours and then start cycling on and off, like 3 minutes compressor running at 9.5A and then 3 minutes compressor off at 0.5A, averaging about 5A.
No Ac will lower power consumption, unless set room temperature is achieved. If AC is not reaching set point (probably due to some issue), it will not lower power consumption and this is main cause of high bills.
Inverters are more power efficient though, especially if T3 52-55C rated.
