Which petrol engine to swap in Kia Sportage

guys,
Replaced the diesel with Mazda F8 EFI 1.8 L. It was a bolt on swap and original 4x4 used.

Pick is better, Ac is better, no over heating, no noise, less consumption.'

Original diesel engine is 65 hp and 90 hp for F8 EFI 12 valve SOHC.

However, my electrician has used toyota coils, ECU and spark plugs with Toyota duet injectors.

Donot know the reason but this setup is working fine with me. Just went to muree-nithiagali-kalabagh-abbottabad-pindi fully loaded with this setup and it was twice as pwerful than the diesel.

Any comments....

Did you manage to track down the correct ECU for the F8? Is it something that is hard to find?

No still using Toyota 4a-fe ECU as it works fine for me. However there was this issue of occasional missing, which came out to be ignition coil wire was faulty. It was registering infinity on an ohmmeter, after changing it, there is no missing and the pick and engine sound is now perfect.

I have just purchased a 2004 Sportage with a 5SFE (and I suspect) a 3SFE manifold. Also the engine is being managed by a 3S ECU.

Despite having a petrol engine with higher displacement, the pick of the Sportage is not very impressive.

My question is whether the basic reason for low pickup is the size of the engine vis-a-vis Sportage's weight or it is due to a mismatch between the engine and ECU.

The question is whether u have used original gear box or the 5sFE gear box because if u used original gearbox than remember it was designed for a diesel engine and so has different gear ratio than a petrol one. Secondly check timing of the engine it self, check spark plug gap, check spark plug wires resistance.

235X75 R15, these are huge tires with some nice looking rims. Inflate Pressure I use is from 25-30 psi giving very good grip to the jeep.

U can go for a diesel ...n 3c with an adopter plate will b a good option

@7606 By the grace of Allah you have been very luck when it came to engine swap of such a suv. I would like to ask you that do you still owe this suv and very important that any of the mechanics that deal in efi cars can replace it of one should contact for suv engine replacement. Further elaborate that how much did you pay to machanich and electrician for this swapping stuff. Tell us about the suspension of the sportage is it repairable.

Iam about to swap a toyota 3S engine with toyota surf's gear (4x4)1994 ... any precautions? Or suggestions? I think il be able to get my hands on a nice 4th gen black top beams 3S-GE engine
