hi shueyb there is one local auto mag i know its called autotrader pakistan local version of autotrader. but its only has loads of ads not too much relative information u can try it once ask for ur hawker or visit a good book store.

I support Hasnain2005's claims 1000%. This question has been asked before and I WILL repeat it; what IS there for the common man? Introducing brands like BMW, Mercedes, Porsche and others only separates us further rather than creating one economy that works together to achieve a common goal; success. What we are doing right now is widening the gap between rich and poor- where the rich get hopelessly rich and the poor remain poor.

Being Pakistani is the worst. F*ck all those who say you should be patriotic because being a patriot for Pakistan is one thing I can never be proud of. Our consumer oriented society is the BIGGEST dilemma towards our success and prosperity. I for one am proud to be an american citizen because the producers cater to ALL! Giving you an example:

For the 17-30 year old market (school-going/ self-earning):

-Matrix
-Scion vehicles
-Corolla
-RAV4

For the 30 year old above market: (Sufficient amount of capital available to invest in a car)
-Camry
-Avalon
-Tundra
-Tacoma
-Highlander
-Land Cruiser
-Sequoia
-Tundra
-Sienna

Cars cater to all- why not in Pakistan. Are businessmen so naive as to think that everyone is a Kennedy, Rockfeller, or is in the blood-line of a royal family? We can NEVER get over this and we may as well kiss prosperity goodbye because we are Pakistanis- we cannot learn to think of others.

Gruesome reality folks; i don't give a crap if i get hate mail on this because you idiots just need to face this reality. Go out and earn and see what car you'll be able to buy then....

Now DEWAN group is in extreme worst condition.

They disconnected the LANCER 1.6L and increase the 1.3L Lancer instead of launching the new model :S

They are now dieing to sell all of their products.

BMW variants are selling pretty well, especially the 5-series,7-series and recently introduced 2008 X-5

when we went to BMW at davis road lahore for booking of our 530i sedan,which had cost us 6.7million, i came to know that last year i.e in 2006 they had sold 85-vehicles in lahore, faisalabad,and sialkot region all together. Our BMW arrives in another 2months. And BMW has offered us a proposition for two, of seeing our car being assembled at the Munich Plant,all expenses paid trip.

The target market for BMW is the reasonably middle,upper-middle and above classess. As they are getting richer day by day, thus the rich-poor gap is widening.

The Locally assembled Santro has emerged to be a market failure. mainly due to liberlisation in imports of smaller second hand cars. Mini-Cooper too hasn' attracted buyers.

if you ask me to define the upper middle class, i'll ask you to define the top 1% of Pakistan.

quinch your thirst. the upper middle-class would be people who have a monthly take home income of Rs.400,000/- or more after taxes, i.e. these mainly belong to traditionalists involved in trading,distribution, wholesale, top employees of local companies and mncs.

The top one-percent are the industrialists of pakistan, who dont prefer even looking at hondas!

IF dewaan is trying for upper market then its thier own right, BMW's and RR are upper and high class buyers, for that I dont think they need to assemble in Pakistan. because only this way they can make quick buks. the top1% now dont want normal cars civic or corollas anymore they have money and dare to spent, hence dewaan is cashing on these making quick bucks by just providing import service

santro is high price car and not value for money at all. that may be the reason they are falling back on it!

but they had a showroom in skt for last 2 years for bmw and mini cooper!

Hyundai Accent could have been a success in Pakistan but DFML is numb enough i suppose. Even they didn't introduce new santro.
