Why Point Sytem of Honda CD185 Twin is failure?

i was thinking to change this part of bike but i thought why not "do it yourself" thing before changing it. might be worked and i will get knoweledge.

I have no experience of CD twin but the issues u mentioned above are not a big deal to fix yr self,

• Gasket must be changed & shud be easily available at McLeoad or Litton Road or can be made easily for just 15 Rs.
• Rust on Rotor/Stator can be brushed with sand paper etc.
• The 2nd Point Contact place u mentioning on plate must be for some 4 Cylinder configuration which is not the case with ur bike so adding 2nd point contact wud not be usefull.
• Regarding Coil, its very small text label on Pic u mentioned so i m unable to read/understand. However if the contact junction of individual coils is rusty or electrically isolated than it can be fixed & rewinding of coil can also be done.

thanks dear. i got some good answers from you. regarding coil i asked that one gucha out of six in the coil is not working as the electrician contected to adjacent gucha part by skiping one of that.

Skipping one slot(guchha) is not a good practice as it would be putting extra load on other slots/coils & soon the other coils will b dead too. Better to get it rewind ASAP. Infact these type of small jugars(like u mentioned skipping or bypassing damgae Coil) effects performance of sytems & unfortunatily its common practice of our Mechanics/Electricians.

In CDI or electronic ignition mechanic have very less margin to play with as per their own thoughts so these system perfom well.

As far Setting of Point is concern i can challange that 100% of mechanics/Electricians (including Authorised service men of famous brands) i have ever consulted have no idea about adjusting timing of contact Point. so its the main reason that Point system bikes usually fouls during extream perfomrnace.
Improperly adjusted Point contact means extra amount of current for extra time period which cause extra load on Alternator/coils. Alos the heavy amount of current flow through point contacts causes rapid wear of contacts & rapid requirment of readjustment against very less running milage.

you can find a complete coil ring in bilal ganj for some reasonable price .. I suggest rewinding it may reduce output coz I think therre is no good rewinder electrician too, buy a complete coil it wont cost you high I have seen many 185 coils in Bilal ganj.

Its really hard to tell about the working status of Electric COils, But some tips are,

1. Apparently coils shudnnt be black or some of the peace with extra dark color (it cud be due to exposure to extra ordinary heat or some short circuit.
2. Smell it, u shud have some smell of varnish but not of some burnt material.
3. Each wire shud have same resistance with other 2 wires (needs to be checked with multi meter)
4. Any of the 3 wires shudnt have any conectivity with ground/Metal core.

• Health of coil can only be determined after its installation & operation.

• Regarding connectivity of three wires u can connect them in any of the sequence with previous wirring setup.

Yes it will increase life of Point contact but precise setting of point plays major role for spark reduction & increase in life of conatacts.

i will again visit BG soon might be koi naya maal aya hoo.

Yes I finnaly found the Complete Shocks Absorber front End with Disc Calipers.. bas ab final touching reh gaye hai InshaAllah jaldi complete kernay ka irada hai ab...
