Gold is usually considered a hedge not an investment. With fear of recession, I think it is a wise move but to be honest It's already quite expensive now given the fact that USD rate is directly linked with gold. You can go for 24K coins from well known dealers like ARY and your local jewelers (they usually sell smuggled gold)

This is again a mistake to put so many articles on import ban list. Most of the smaller goods (which have higher routine consumption) will still make their way into the country through smuggling, that too without paying any import duty.

sir 90% of industry in Pakistan is based over imported raw material. The best govt can do is put a check & balance of import input and production output. any disbalance shall be penalized and taxed. blanked ban tou industry close karwa day ga aur unemployment will rise.

You cannot localize all car parts, specially in a technology-deficit country like Pakistan. Even in US and Germany, a lot of car parts are imported from different countries. Even the best selling "most American" Ford F-Series truck uses 40% imported parts. Modern cars are made from a global effort due to increasing features adding more complexity.

Forget local technological revolution, that simple isn't going to happen in our lifetime, mainly due to poor government policies, brain drain, and illiteracy.

What Pakistan can do is nurture the IT industry. Its the fastest growing industry in Pakistan at this time. Allow long term visas to global digital nomads/freelancers and let them avail income tax exemption or 1% tax already implemented. UAE offers these visas, but the cost of living and visa/permit fees are very high.

That is how mafias operate, no? Mutual corruption and under the table sort of partnership. The more the price hike, the more GST government receives.

How many parts in our dear Pak Suzuki are localized and how do they benefit us when rupee depreciates? These manufacturers had years to plan and execute but Khair can't blame them totally because government never went after them and had no check and balance.

Income tax is already exempt for freelancers till 2025 if I am not wrong. However being a freelancer myself, would love to receive some benefits by the government but literally not sure what type of benefits can be given.

I agree but just to give manufacturers a wake-up call. Auto industry is given a free hand when it comes to pricing. I don't think they even share with the govt actual value of how much did it costed them a vehicle.

in next Auto policy , govt should encourage manufacturers not only to localize parts but also export these by giving some rebate so trade deficit can be reduced.
we know that no manufactrer can manufacture origional quality engine parts, transmission parts, mounting, suspension parts but they can at least invest in small parts like brake pads, oil/air/cabin/fuel filters, dashboard parts not only for local needs but also for export.

In our country mafias have always thrived in the past, and will always do so in future. The industrialists have always their people in the govt to protect and safeguard their interests. So heart says to have optimism for betterment in future, but mind says otherwise.

Just yesterday I was listening to the Finance minister from Candyland. According to him, this year's economic growth of 6% is a disaster because IMF says that it has resulted in current account deficit, so we must slow down the economic growth. Then he disclosed that he was going to IMF for a better agreement than what previous govt had done.

This was a complete shock for me. When your country is in hands of such people then better not keep high hopes for future.
