Wiper scratches removal

Can anyone tell me which shop to go for in rawalpindi for wiper scratches buffing .... Any reliable person here in twin cities ?

meth or eth both work, you can even clean it with vodka if you wish. I clean my cars wipers with soap and water then rub clean with such alcohols - I do replace them every year though, no economy in using bad wiper blades.

No dear silicone spray is not that dangerous for the windscreen if applied once in a month on wiper rubber blades. Just use a small quantity by first spraying onto a cloth and then apply evenly on wiper rubber. Only use transparent silicone spray. Don't use milky like silicone spray like Formula 1 dashboard polish which will soften the wiper rubber blades too much and then these get brittle. Yes I do agree with you to use alcohol but this will make the rubber more dry. I recommend to use only warm water with some car shampoo mixed in it and wash the wiper rubber blades with it and then rinse it off. Just do it occasionally when you feel these have become quite dirty.

visit any lab and read their silicone and glass prohibitions, you will understand, Once silicone gets on glass - its impossible to remove. Secondly wiper blade rubber inserts are only good for 1 year, after that they become useless even if you never switched on the wipers. You are not supposed to lubricate them externally as it would skid on the glass rather than clean it.

Yes Zulfiqar I agree with you but I have already said that only use it very little and when you see your wiper rubber have become hard. The cheap quality wiper rubber blades do become useless after one year of usage but if you buy a good one or original which may cost you much then these wipers last for many years. But here in Pakistan people usually buy wiper from road sides hawkers and these wiper rubber blades contain contamination which are abrasive and ultimately ruins your precious windscreens. I am a chemical engineer so I studied it closely and wrote to best of my knowledge. However, I do not agree with silicone penetration phenomena in windscreen pores. Silicone is basically a petroleum product and only provide lubricity to materials. It is rather a misconception of spoiling the windscreen...

I only buy genuine wiper blade rubber inserts for my cars from their dealers. I clean them every month with a wipey of alcohol and they are good again. Once they start to smear on the first sweep - its change time.

I also use rain-x on my MB - its body design is really good - so when it moves the side windows actually clean themselves - the water is sucked upwards as the car moves forwards.

For silicone grease/oil on glass - I work in a facility that has tons of labs, they invent high performance poly urethanes, surfactants, pigments, polymers and a whole book worth of other items.

Silicone grease is banned in some labs - specially on glass items - upto the point of discarding the item as it can never be cleaned off unless mechanical action is used.

its a major PITA to clean - you are stuck with it most of the time.

also what about people using synthetic waxes on windscreen? their posted results seem to be good. do waxes affect too?

@saadzzz @asim510 It's a really old thread but seemed like you guys had a good experience. How long did the results last? I'm concerned about some people saying that few months later there are weird effects on windshield when driving at night. Did you guys experience anything?

Anyone else who got their windshield buffed, especially from that Tariq guy near Muzang chungi?
