No! From early commercials, it may have looked like you could stop on a dime. That instantaneous stop is not realistic. When braking on dry or wet roads your stopping distance will be about the same as with conventional brakes.

You should allow for a longer stopping distance with ABS than for conventional brakes when driving on gravel, slush, and snow. This is because the rotating tire will stay on top of this low traction road surface covering, and effectively "float" on this boundary layer.

A non ABS braked vehicle can lock its tires and create a snow plow effect in front of the tires which helps slow the vehicle. These locked tires can often find more traction below this boundary layer

its not because we need them

its beacue you never know

stupid taxi driver driving on 20km/h speed at 70km/h road on fast lane

u never know motorbiker goin on extreem right lane on Highway

u never know stupid drivers standing on the side road with thier car being in middle of road parked cuz of mechincal problam without HAZARDS lights

u never know a stupid jumping from direct 3rd lane to first lane without giving indicator

we need ABS to get our self protected from Idiots around us

ABS concept is far far more than v are discussing. Some say ABS stops soon, some say it has the same stopping distance. All have valid proofs behind that. Let me put that in another scenario. These pages are snapped from Honda Civic official owner's manual. Let's c what it says...... This may clarify ur concepts a bit........

sub kuch to straight laka ha. pir be nahi man rahe tu ma kya kar sakta ho. ma na pala be bataya rain ma traffic ke condition aur hoti ha aur noormal days ma aur.. aur rain per year 6-7 hoti ha mostly dry weather hota ha...hope u understand...
