Xli & CITY.......Comparison

yr if u ppl talk about safety then both city and xli r useless...........then u better buy a bmw ....any ways if u rate about looks xli is much better in looks and city sucks......if i buy a car now and have just two choices xli and city then i must go with xli......bcz xli in black color with silver grils looks awesome

Thats personal choice my friend! as far safety goes...... lol bhaijan XLI ko rokainge kaise ap? in city, u can atleasst manoeuvre ur car out of a possible collision...in XLI, ull go chaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaan dhuzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz! then the front end of ur precious black gli with silver grill will be history!

n btw, the shape of the city is more appealing to youngsters n being smaller its more manoeuvrable!

At the end of the day what matters is which car is popular and has sold more units. No surprises here as its XLI by a big margin. Forget the rural areas. In big cities like Lahore, Islo and Karachi alone there are more XLIs than the City.

After going through complete 61 pages of this post, I finally decided to go for a new city '09 MT instead of a new GLI '09 and I am completely happy with my decision so far; no regrets at all. It is already giving me 15 Km/lit within the city and that too in heavy rush. Drive is smooth, pick is awesome, interior is not that bad, only problem in the interior is its black color as dust looks more prominent on black.
I am getting desperate to experience the pleasure of its drive on motorway.

Finally, thank you everyone for contributing into this valuable post and helping a prospective and confused buyer like me to take a wise decision with so many options.

The topic was the comparison of XLi and City, not Corolla in general.

I have city and I bought it because of the virtue of the fact that it gives all the features of GLi at the price of XLi.

GLi is expensive (by 2 Lack) than City, and yet it provides all the feautes that City has.

I am driving City on Petrol (havn't installed CNG yet but I'm planning) but its giving me an awesome average of 21 Kilometers/liter on the high ways. I have to travel from Pindi to Peshawar on weekends.

I am not really sure if GLi gives the same average. But the price factor is huge.

I also really like the sporty look of Honda City.

XLi should probaby never be bought if you have an equivia equivalent City in mind. The reason is ABS. ABS is very important specially when you're driving in Pakistan.

For smaller cars like Alto or Cultus etc, ABS wouldn't matter as much as it would matter for XLi. So a car of this size must have had ABS.

Next, if you install Power Windows in XLi, it would probably be done my a local electrician and I haven't even installed security system in my car just for the fear of handing over my car to a desi electrician. Factory power windows are very nice.

I really don't see a reason why one would buy XLi while they can pay for a Honda City.

Yar these Anti-ABS guys aren't making alot of sense to me. My car's ABS is awesome. It has never slipped. I have tried breaking on 100, and even on 120 (for testing) and it stops definitely in less than 30 meters. (max 4 to 5 seconds).

Plus the video posted above by our brother that shows ABS test and the cars are sliding and making the skid noise seems to be something else. ABS never slips (atleast not in my cars).

Plus it also says in the Manual of the car that you should not put over sized rims or tyres as they could interfare with the functionality of ABS. May be that is the reason why you guys didn't get the best output.
