@mani1: that is something i also wondered.. I think the reason was the Autocross circuit this time around had very few straights and was very challenging in terms of corners, and the sheer amount of them. This is where the lighter cars had the advantage - there were some amazing cars like the skyline, supra, silvia, 350z, bmw jz these had a lot under the hood and otherwise for them to perform - but they were heavy cars. the ones that made the best times were cars that were light and fast, Chawla's MR S was top, then the civic and then Magsi's Evo...
Also you gotta give it to the drivers man. The guy in the Silvia for instance had an awesome ride but did a time worse than the lady drivers - and even managed the ONLY spin of the night (I hope he's not on PW or he'll kill me haha)
