A slipper clutch is most useful when it prevents an engine overrun from causing the rear wheel to slip due to inappropriate downshifting too high for the road speed.

That's what rev matching does, my friend! It dramatically reduces the risk of wheel lock-up when downshifting aggressively and also enhances the longevity of the transmission, clutch plates and even brake pads.

There's a reason MotoGP and WorldSBK riders use this technique.

Rev matching does nothing if the downshifting is so much that releasing the clutch with over-rev the engine to the point where the rear wheel slips.A slipper clutch will prevent that situation Think about this: Can rev-matching help if the transmission is put in first gear at 90? A slipper clutch will help prevent the engine to rev to way above its redline.

Excellent decision by Yamaha. Hope they had updated the fender so that cover tyre more we know our road are & street are very dirty to rideon. And yeah most important if they fulfill demand of power than Yamaha would for sure ROCK. Power is the top most priority of Pakistani people & youngsters. Ybrz is powerfull enough to give tough time to cg on road infact late models of ybr and ybr G have improved in power a lot with bigger jets and open exhaust

when people tell me about the zulm o sitam of gormint that aam banda is forced to ride CD70 and not big bikes - I tell them..

agar inn chappal, gutka aur cigarette awaam ko bari bikes dedeen to haspataal mein bisterr kam parjainge aur murdakhanay uball parange.

imagine cd70 crowrider suddenly on a gsxr - rolling it on - then trying to stop it with the rear brake only while wearing hawai chappal and no helmet and smacking the car/truck infront.

In a way it will cull the idiots out - in another way it will be bad as FBR needs to collect income tax from them - dead people dont pay tax.

worst outcome - sole earner lost from family - now its a social burden.

These people need to physically witness the amazing brute power of kawi H2R (even as bystander) - its a very sobering moment - that machine literally shoots off like a rocket and does not run out of breath till it hits the speed limiter.

usual engines run out of breath as they approach their rpm limit, that beast bike has all of its power till the rpm redline where the ECU steps in and cuts it.

note... Never trust kawasaki designers with no supervision. They bring in some crazies.

I did love the mini sonic booms made by the impeller tips exceeding the speed of sound, enough to consider the H2 SX SE as a replacement for the FJR. The power rush is intoxicating indeed, specially in Colorado where it won't lose power compared to naturally aspirated engines.

Why not companies introduce automatic gears in bikes. Drove a scooter with auto gear abroad and it was a sublime hassle free ride.

Anyhow, I said:

Instead of "completely" eliminates the risk of wheel lock-up. According to Wikipedia, slipper clutch is designed to partially disengage or "slip" when the rear wheel tries to drive the engine faster than it would run under its own power.

And in case of throttle blip, you simply increase the engine speed by manually 'blipping' the throttle to 'mitigate' (but not necessarily 'eliminate') the difference between wheel and engine speed which has 'more or less' the same effect as a slipper clutch i.e less chance of wheel lock-up, at least in a practical sense. They are indeed two different animals in a literal sense, no doubt.

Blipping is essential with regular clutches. And I'm not going to stop blipping my lil' YB100 anytime soon!

I think it's impossible to ride CVT scoots without a cup or two of joe.

They are just oh so boring.

I'd rather ride a bicycle... or take a hike... or catch a bus... or call an Uber... or... well, you get the picture.

I remember seeing a post here where a Honda Deluxe owner said that he doesn't like disk brakes because; and I quote: "ڈسک بریک لگتی ہے ٹھاہ کر کے ".
