For tappet setting what i have learned so far that don't ever try to adjust when it is hot. It is not only for motorcycles but i have experienced it in Honda city car too and i learned it there from one of Honda smart mechanic. He even placed a fan in front of engine to cool down the temperature before adjusting tappet settings and i waited almost 3 to 4 hours for achieving those idle settings and when it get done my car speed was 190 on motor way while earlier it was not exceeding 170 mark.
When you are willing to adjust your motorcycle tappet, do it at your home in morning with cold engine start or you may start the engine for 30 sec to one minute and then open it for tappet adjustment. Naeem and all other mechanics in market do not care for that temperature to get down and just put the gauge inside to get their work done quickly so they could lock their money. I thank to Allah that i did not visit Jehlum otherwise i was going to suffer more loss.
