I have faced the same issue in YBZ i have claimed it in warranty, yamaha has replaced its clutch basket and some thing else, now its running smoothly.

You can calculate the average using the following steps:

1. Get you tank filled such that it is slightly above the Reserve level.
2. As soon as the Reserve gets hit, reset the meter to 0 and start consuming the reserve.
3. Get three (3) liters of fuel added at your earliest and set the petcock (Petrol Cock i.e. Petrol On / Off switch) back to on from reserve.
4. Now, as soon as your bike hits reserve again, not the reading.
5. Divide this reading by 3 (Or the amount of fuel you added to your fuel tank after hitting reserve)
6. This is your bikes average.

Note: Average also depends upon the fuel quality (Shell / PSO / Hascol etc) and quantity (poora daala hai ya dandi maari hai filler ne)

Let me tell you what I did, and still issue not resolved with the bike.

I got the tuning done and oil changed (Yamaha Lube) by Iqra Autos Rawalpindi two weeks ago.
They did not change the filter saying there is no need.
Refilled the tank when it was totally empty with 4.75 litres HOBC Excelleum from Total in Rs. 500 @ Rs. 105/Litre

When I switched to Reserve, Trip Meter was on 93 kms. I had reset it to 0 and In the remaining 3 litres reserve it went on to 97 kms.
So in total 190 kms in 4.75 litre HOBC which settles to 40 kms/litre that too @ Rs.105/litre.

I was not happy and thought to confirm and got the tank filled completely and checked on normal petrol as below.

I filled the tank to a set point just below the tank cap with 13.30 litres for Rs. 1150 @ Rs. 86/litre.
After driving for 50 kms I got it refilled to the same point with 1.75 litres for Rs. 150 which concludes to same average of almost 30km/litre.

I have been really upset about it.

What do you think I should do?

If the above quoted observation is exactly correct, I think your bike is consuming more fuel than usual. You mentioned that you had a completely empty tank before you got 04.75L of fuel (TOTAL EXCELLIUM HOBC is perhaps the best you can get). Than the total outcome was 190 Kms when your tank got empty again. Which is just reaching 40L / Km.

Give it one more try and do exactly as I stated above (Reserve to Reserve reading / with any normal fuel).

If it again comes out to be 40 Kms / L, there can be two possibilities:

1. Your driving style is not bike friendly:
   1.1. You rev too much / hard acceleration.
   1.2. Ride in traffic jams / engine start and idle etc.
   1.3. Put your feet on breaks while riding / breaks jamming the wheel.
   1.4. Air Pressure in tyres / jammed chain

OR

1. Your bike needs a tuning (Air filter mostly in new bikes, carburetor needle adjustment in old ones ... few others)

If its tuning, you must see some good Yamaha Recommended service center. They will tune the bike so that it will give a better millage. You can check the Bike's manual for authorized service centers in you area. But do your maths again before you go to the service center.

Dear brother,

Thank you for the explanation. Sorry could not get back, been busy.

In short, I did check with normal fuel two times.
Once 15 Litres for 535 Kms which concludes to 35.6
and than I did it your way as explained above which ended in 33.8 Kms
So average is now almost 35 kms which used to be 28~30 Kms.
This change is after I went to the Yamaha service center before 15 Litres test.

Now there are things that you said and I feel I do. I rev too much, but if speedometer is on 80 RPM is at 6.5. Air pressure is OK. I will go to the service center and get the filter change and see how it effects.

How much fuel average you think this bike should give at least?

have ybr 125 2016 model.my bike was staniding for a month and today i tried to start but is not starting neither the self start is working and neither the kick start. What to do?

Hi All! I bought a Yamaha YBR-G in Oct 2017 and Alhamdulillah it's running smooth till yet. I've covered 20k km in 10 months, no major issue till yet. Although I noticed rattling sound from the engine (tick tick tick) after starting up. I had a doubt over the tappet settings but they were fine and mechanic found out that it was the timing chain. He fixed it up through tightening it. Later after 2 days the sound came again and I went to another mechanic, he did the same saying (ab nahe aegi mene tight ki hai na is bar lol)..and here we go.. It came up again. For the third time while getting it tuned, I asked the mechanic and he did the same thing, worked for 3 days and rattling came back.

I later talked to an engineer who worked for Yamaha in past and played a role to train the mechs for YBR. He said that "Ismen ghabrane ki bat nahin, mech will tell you when its the time to change the timing chain"

But I doubt that the tensioner/adjuster is malfunctioned? Since the rattling returned soon after it got tightened? Kindly please if anyone can advice? Since YBR mechs have no reasonable justification for this at all!!! I don't want to screw up my engine since am leaving for a 1000 mile journey next month.

Bro it will not be a timing chain tensioner/adjuster issue problem will be with timing chain. 100% timing chain will be loose you can adjust timing chain yourself there are lot of videos on youtube for your help search it there or inbox me your number for help

Hope fine i have 2017 ybr 125 giving 33km avg per leter. I dont have experiance but i think its very average

Yamaha YBR 125 Turning over but not starting. HELP!!

I have an issue with my YBR, last week on Monday (after two weeks) I started it from the self, it got started and then turned off. After that i used self starter but the bike did not responded so i immediately used the kick to start the bike. It got started and then again turned off itself. After that it has gone one week but the bike could not started, even i have changed the plug, charged the battery and tried, used the kick multiple times but in vain.The spark is healthy but no start.

My question is bro has it gone OVER (how the carburetor OVER can be unfilled? or any thing in your mine to check it. The mechanic is 10kms far from my home. Any solution please..... Waiting anxiously

Over fill of carb will resolve if you wait for few minutes as petrol evaporates. Check for spark at spark plug. Are you sure petrol is coming to carb though you mention over fill, how you know it's over fill?

Actually it is just my assumption that it is overfilled carburetor issue. But you seem right that may be petrol is not being supplied by the carburetor.

Bro how can one check the carburetor that it is supplying petrol or not?

Just take out the petrol pipe from carb, before that turn off petrol and once pipe is removed from carb side trun on petrol to see it's flowing or not.

I also had this sound in my ybr g 6 model, but after changing the timing chain, and oil change to yamahalube, its better now.

Hi brothers i just got YBR-G everything is running fine i have one issue minusing of gears are soo hard to shift specially when going from 1 to neutral the bike is hardly driven 10KM. Is it something to worry about ? or is there a fix let me know guys
