Yamaha YBR-125 Review

This indeed, my friend, would have been a better product Yamaha relaunched-itself-with in Pakistan. Look how simple yet modern it is. It serves all the core requirements without having to trade-off style. And I think it would have costed a tad bit little because it does not have those fuel-tank visors and the volume of fuel tank is lesser too.

PS: Is it only me or is it really worth drooling over?

I get it. Different people like different things. But if you take a general notice of today's bikes, they are becoming downright uglier. "Sporty" is not necessarily beautiful. Sometimes, "simple" is 100x more beautiful and prettier than 'sexy'. Maybe its just us, becoming too old for this sh*t, or maybe we are just mad .

Anyhow, if the news of YBR125Z in this year's end is to be believed, then i am also already excited. I just hope that the original rumor about "3 models of 125cc" is true, and they do release a YBR without a front visor.

By the way, why is it that after seeing this, Deluxe feels like a "stupidest" product of all, in this market segment. GS150, Piaggio and Yamaha ... Atlas Honda really need to up their game on this one, or they should just GTFO of this mess.

I think the YBR 125Z looks a dozen times better. The spirit of 'classic' is retained in that one, and it doesn't try too hard to look like a sporty commuter which it just isn't.

But yes, without a Disc Brake upfront, it would be pointless to have that. I was hoping to see a YBR125 without that front stupid looking visor. This is more of my thing:

I agree with you on this one. Just replacing the visor with this round light would've added 100% more hotness.

Pakistan biking game is definitely going to change for good now, Insha Allah. Yamaha has come to break the "status-quo" of decades old monopolists selling same thing over and over again without any ingenious improvisation.

I say GD would be hurt too not because the product itself is bad, but the features/price ratio is way too YBR-ward. Let's prepare for a GD cheaper in price and quality because currently GD has the best build quality up till 150 cc segment. Now GD's price makes sense to me which looked nonsense when it was launched. Yamaha have banked many cool features in YBR, but have compromised build quality VS. GD offers a great built quality that comes with a (seemingly) hefty price tag.

Other players in the competition definitely need to think over. YBR's selling feature is its features themselves, GD would sell for its sheer build quality, what do others have to sell? Nothing I guess.

You are right, my friend. Not even a single bolt is local in GD. All parts are Chinese, but hi-grade Chinese parts. Yamaha also has Chinese parts, but the quality is not up to mark. For instance, the accelerator, clutch, and brake cables are all Chinese but of disappointingly inferior quality. If you ask me, my excitement fainted after looking at YBR's parts when I went to "meet" it in-person on the next day of its launch. Yet it revs my heart for I believe Yamaha have not compromised on its engine at least although the engine head gives a very "local-ish" look.

So yes, major and all the important YBR components (chassis, engine, fairings, suspension system) are of good quality but I feel Yamaha have made substantial cost cuts by using low-quality peripherals. Even the Yamaha sticker logo on the fuel tank saddens me deeply

if its price is less then 90k then it will kill cg.. as this price is much suitable for this bike.

If its priced less than a CG125, people will not buy it because "its cheaper, so it must be bad".

Lets admit it. That 'is' mostly the mentality found in Pakistan. How do you think GS150 have started to make more sales all of a sudden? That is primarily because its price is increased much higher, hence causing that 'prestige effect', making 'people with money' buy it more often.

This is another marketing tactics used often in such an environment.

1 thing worth noting here is its fuel tank carries the brand name "Yamaha" whereas the YBR that we currently have just has Yamaha emblem on the fuel tank.

Now Suzuki GD also has the brand name "Suzuki" on its fuel tank but not its "S" logo. And we all know Suzuki outsourced its development to Haojou, China. Does this observation mean to same for Yamaha? If not, why different graphics for same brand?

PS: This does not have front disk brake or alloy rims, so I am hoping it would at least not carry a price tag exceeding 110k based on the fact there is a 20k difference in GD 110 and GD 110S and that too without a disk brake.

By the way this looks like a bike from the 80s and I don't mind that at all

By the way, funny how people including myself used to drool over "-R" bikes when we peeked into our neighbors, yet we are despising it and crying for the "simpler" model when we have finally gotten the "-R" bike
