ok friends so here i come with another query, my ride has auto fan with no thermostat valve. heat gauge reaches middle and fan starts and so should it.

At this point if i turn knob from cool to hot and turn on heater, the heat level starts decreasing and after some time reach "C" and remains there until i again turn knob to cool level. Now again heat level reach mid and fan starts and so on......

it shows that your cooling system is working perfect.install the 82 deg t-valve ASAP

Does your needle always stay at 20-30% ... does it ever reach 50%?

it has no thermostat valve (confirmed from mechanic) and fan is auto.Auto fan starts and turns off after a while,the needle remaining exactly at this position. yes it takes time to reach this level

Now 2 situations:

1- if blower fan is set to cool position (the blue zone for fresh air , hope u getting it)..the minimum it comes to ~20-30%, not less than that ever....and that too in very cold weather...considering nowadays, it does not come below 40%.

2-if blower fan is set to hot position (heater turns on), the needle comes exactly at "C" within ~1-2 minutes

Consulted 1 mechanic, he says that by turning on heater a small fan starts working and cools the system, hence the needle comes down quickly...

When you turn on heater then coolant/water also flows through heater evaporator and it also acts like a small radiator dissipating heat into the cabin and hence getting cool itself. that may be the reason your needle comes to "C"

@umarkhan1 is right, install 82?C t stat and it will be all fine. Though can anyone tell me if its ok to install t valve in old waterbody and WB can withstand pressure generated by t stat when its closed?

mileage update.70 kms in 500 ka petrol.urban+extra urban driving.only 5% ac used.still there was a lill petrol present but i got my ride refueled.

if the temperature needle moves like normal(i-e : goes up after runnung, goes down on long run etc ) then whats the verdict?

MA its impressive , my ride used petrol of 1000rs (104rs/l) and i came from faisalabad to lahore (distance was 145km) with AC within city (hardly for 30 minutes)

is it fine?

If needle goes down on highway or after turning on ac then you don't have t stat

I got my cultus tank full in 2700 last friday it had some fuel already in it (rate 94.5) and till today i have driven it for 135km and needle is in middle and i guess it will do 270 kms in full tank guys share your cars mileage also

not much a problem though curious about its mischevious behaviour.

if thermostat is present and cooling system is perfect, then needle will remain at centre all the time, no matter its winter or summer, AC/heater on/off
and in morning needle will take a minute to reach centre if thermostat is present

If needle goes down on highway or after turning on ac then you don't have t stat

the needle doesn't goes down when AC is ON, but it goes down on highways
