I'm not sure what kind of connecting rod we are talking about but in vehicles there is no such thing as a connecting rod sound and then replacing it on the pretext that it is giving a noise. Please do get second opinion
The connecting rod does bend slightly with time but still it wouldn't give a sound and then its next stage is getting broken and with that he engine siezes and most it tears the block
the items which may sound differently are :
-- Piston pin (gudgen pin) may become loose
-- Main bigen
-- Broken ring
Now once you open the engine then you need to replace all items or go for a complete overhaul. reason, if any one thing is loose in engine it will definitely effect other parts and make them loose
Conclusion
-- If there is really a critical noise from engine then be rready for complete overhaul
-- get second and third opinions
