I bought my Honda City IDSI auto in year 2005 in Malaysia. 4 years later in 2009 I encounter this problem until now.
The problem is as follows:-
When it rains and the roads have patches of water (about 1 inch deep), when my car drives over the patches of water, my car will suddenly lose power, and after a short while (less than 1 minute) my car will not be able to move even though the engine is on. Then a malfunction-indicator-lamp is light up. I will have to slowly pull to the side even though the car is slight jerking but the engine is still on. I will off the engine and wait for 20 minutes and re-start the engine, and then the car is normal again. It is very dangerous as the car suddenly has no power and the cars from behind may hit at my car.
I have checked with few mechanics with Honda authorized workshop but they give me different reasons, e.g. the censors are splashed with water, the oxygen-detector is malfunction, etc. Until I am confused and did not repair until now as it is costly with each proposal run up to RM2,000.
So now, whenever I see a patch of water I will slow down to sort of roll over it, so that the water will not splash up. But this is very annoying as I must make sure no car from behind.
I am not sure whether this is a manufacturing default or not.
