Whats wrong with "Karachi Registered Vehicles"?

I was just wondering why do people say that "karachi" number is not good....look for a lahore registered car...or Faisalabad/islamabad is okay as well........

I intend to drive car in Lahore!

its just a grudge against Karachiites of these pendos and nothing else. the best cars are only in karachi and the most reasonable also.

resale issue, token payment issue, doc. verification issue, rust issue, police doubts on foreign city registered car more than local registered one. you feel like an alien to your home town while driving such car... and much more....

i used to keep karachi number car. and found these issues. if above aren't the issues in your 'eye' . proceed and buy one!

Well i think 'once upon a time' there used to be a lot of stolen cars from Karachi that were inland and sold there with fake papers... so during those days any car with a 'yellow number plate' used to be a favorite of police but i think things have improved now...during the past 5 years i have owned two Karachi reg. cars in islamabad...but never had any problem...only issue is that I have send the reg. book every year to Karachi for the annual token.
ummm if you wanna 'try' keeping a Khi. reg. car we can have a deal...I will give you my City EXIs and take your Civic of course will pay you the additional amount along with the car...kasa??

eh! alien in me own city ....... arent we all aliens/terrorists in our own land...only to be stopped 100s of times and checked ......... while people who are robbing our country are given clear access on these check posts...so they dont even have to slow down like us commoners........

Dont think general public keeps grudges against anyone from any other part of Pakistan....its just our leaders keeping us busy with this crap .........

watching news just figured an other possible reason......its big city ...busy roads....traffic jams ....... cars idle for hours...engine running more while showing less mileage....... see!!!!! no grudge ....logical explanation for lahori's thinking negative about karachi registered cars!!!

Karachi cars are reasonably priced and you get a lot of variety.

Will I be able to sell it in Islamabad or Lahore. Please help.

Whats wrong? Don't Karachi falls in the jurisdiction of Pakistan? There's nothing wrong with it. Its the dealers and other people who have created this market hype regarding Karachi registered vehicles. And about our Police, they also stop Lahore registered cars as well as Isb registered, they just try to make some money as always expected from our Police force.

The biggest problem with a Karachi registered car is renewal of registration. It has to be done in Karachi, which is a headache for people with no links or connections in Karachi. The next is rust. A car in Karachi deteriorates much faster in Karachi than in Lahore or Rawalpindi. Third is high mileage. Most cars in Karachi run up mileage as distances within the city are quite large.

In my opinion, cars in Karachi are generally cheaper as Karachi people are mostly from the business community who have the resources to change cars frequently. So after every 3-5 years people replace cars thereby keeping the used car market large. In Lahore or Rawalpindi, once a car is bought it remains in the family for at east 10 years or more.

Just be careful if buying a car in Karachi. Original embossed number plate with Sindh seal mark. Original papers with verified file. CPLC verification. Maybe a few other checks also. Good luck.

how do we transfer a khi car in our name...like as in tokens we have to goto khi too..or could it be done locally?
anyone with a good experience should comment as i had lahore number margalla and used to get tokens for it in kpk...at starting they all said theek hai kpk bhi pakistan hai and post office issues them and everything is okay. when i sold it i had to but all tokens and pay the fine for not submittting on time for like 6 years.

Thank you @mehran bhai. The token has to be paid in Karachi. Agents in Islamabad charge you Rs. 500/= extra to get the token paid in Karachi. If on has a friend in Karachi he can do it for you. Yes Karachi is a big city and there are lots of cars there and on has huge choice. Laykin agar car bachni par jayay tau banda kiya kaya karay sir jee.
