Islamabad Registration/Number plate Problem

Dear brothers i wanted to know if there was a link anyone knew of i.e official link that provides illustration of the correct sample of Islamabad registration plates.

I do not use my original plates (due to an incident some time back where my uncles original ISB plates were stolen and later used in a wardaat. Thank God he had filed an F.I.R despite the PS's reluctance) anyhow i have had this problem in Lahore. When ever i enter or leave from Thoker Niaz Baig the city police always stops me and then the same old gullu butt procedure starts....first they use a threatening tone and later it all comes down to "ab hamara bhai per koi haq nai" obviously that means anything from Rs 20 - Rs 50. this also happened on Mall road but the traffic warder simply issued me a ticket for not using original plates.

I simply do not understand something that is acceptable in Islamabad is a total No No in Lahore?? as if Lahore isnt part of Pakistan....anyhoo

I am using White Plastic Plates with Black fonts. No shahska no design no nothing. Simple copy of original plates but on plastic. I kept searching the ETO website for a correct sample but couldnt find any.

Reason being i wanted to print it out and keep it in my car for any incident that may take place in lahore the next time. atleast ill have a proof to show to the stupid police that this is what our or ISB ETO office allows...

The last incident was infuriating simply beacause i was with my wife and i was returning from a walima function back to RWP. it was around 10:30pm and i simply did not want to make a big issue and start a fight... so i gave him RS 50 and he went away

any help with the link would be appreciated..

I never have had any such problem using a duplicate plastic number plate of Islamabad registration for my car in Lahore although I'm very frequent traveler between Lahore and Islamabad and live in Lahore for most of the week every week.

Anyway, I have never seen such a official information about number plates by the Islamabad motor vehicle registration authority however, if you visit a good number plate shop in Islamabad or RWP, ask them to make you a number plate with same color and font as the original one. They may not have the perfect copy but will easily get you the one that is quite close to the original one.

Keep originals in the boot fo your car, and show them that you have the original plates. Maybe that would work, but if the policeman wants a bribe or 'chai-pani', he will make up some other excuse...

Above both options are workable and I have seen in some cases that people are displaying the original plates on dash board in this type of situation.

while at Thokar, normally they are not stopping the buses and trucks. Before entering that check point follow closely to any bus / truck. In this way you will not give sufficient time to Gullu Butt to prepare and ask you to stop.
Besides all these measures, the basic purpose is to make money.

there is a guy in I-8 Islamabad, he will make numbers plates and they will look like original from a distance of 3 meters.
His shop is stickers lover

There are many number plate walas in Islamabad who can make an exact copy.
Problem is not you doing any shashka. The rule is that you have to use the number plates issued by excise. Your number plates must be easy to spot that is why you are stopped and or fined.

yeah i have been told that....by the police itself....but u are right they will make an issue of anything if they are looking to take bribe...for instance i drive a Passo...the rear windows are already tinted by the company.... and he made an issue of it...

hmm possible.....but in Islamabad we used to have banners put up by ITP......that illustrated the right sample to be used if not opting to use original.....especially on isb highway.....secondly iv never been stopped anywhere.....not in ISB, Chakwal, KPK....only in Lahore :-s ...

Khair ill visit another number plate walla and see if they can make me a better one.
