    Default Toyota Vitz Owners/Fan Club

    The purpose of this post is to gauge the interest in forming a Toyota Vitz Owners Club in different cities of Pakistan. As we all know that Vitz has become quite popular in the last year or so. More and more people are buying it or are interested to know more about it. The purpose of the club would be to share technical / operational information regarding the car. As well as help fellow members with different issues regarding the everyday running of the car. There would be regular meets and get together as well as cruises. The criteria to join the club would be to own a Vitz and a desire to help and share information with fellow members. I myself am based in Karachi, so I can take the lead in taking off this project here. Other can do the similar thing in their respective cities. If there is enough interest, a formal charter / by-laws would be issued with club rules and regulation as well as its mission statement. The club would operate under the same rules & conditions as other international car clubs. To take this project off the ground, I believe 10 people in each city would be the minimum requirement. If anyone from Karachi is interested in being a part of this club, please email me at danyal1@hotmail.com. Pakwheelers from other cities can share their email addresses under this post if they are willing to take the lead for their respective cities. I hope to this see become a success someday and a model for other to follow. LETS MAKE IT HAPPEN GUYS!!!

    Finally was able to get the japanese text that tyrone mentioned, translated... and yes it does mean:

    "Don’t pour water on the engine bay due to risk of short circuiting after ignition"

    So, Tyrone, the earlier rough translation was also correct! We should use water sparingly and very carefully, if at all.

    Regarding throttle body cleaning, it is only needed when the car is giving trouble on idle. A dirty throttle body causes problems at low rpm... e.g. when u move your foot from the acclrtr to the brake in normal driving, the engine might stall while rpm is decreasing! Other problems are mostly due to other things. Also, while cleaning throttle body, ensure the spray or cleaner is safe for the cat converter - else you know what will happen.

    @umairit

    congratulations and good luck. there's plenty of checklists available on internet as well as this very forum, though u'll have to search for it. i remember posting one myself.

    @antiflag

    u'r right, max speed should've been more. but there are many other causes possible. e.g. the weight you're carrying, facing wind, tyre size and alignment, etc.

    internal causes possible (in order of likelihood and ease of fixing):

    1. dirty air filter

    2. malfunctioning or dirty MAF sensor

    3. dirty fuel filter

    4. partially blocked cat converter

    Toyota Vitz OwnersFan Club -935804

    Recently one of my 4 ignition coils malfunctioned, so i consulted the mechanic who said " Japani " second hand mile gi for rs.2200 and original japaneese new for around Rs.4000. i asked the dealers and it was for rs.4200 which i thot was TOO MUCH FOR JUST ONE COIL !

    so what i want to ask is after asking a reliable electrician he advised me to go for the toyota XLI coil (SHOWN ABOVE) which is the exact REPLICA of the ones in VITZ, and amazingly it was for rs.2200 brand new(original). may be even more expensive but i think i got a good deal. What i want to ask is if any one of you know if there's any difference between these two, the way the handly current etc or not ? because the physical difference is the black upper part is slightly lets say 15-20% bigger than that of the original coils in vitz.

    waiting for your expert opinion...

    @anti flag Today I got my car scanned and throttle body complete clean and also cleaned spark plugs etc. He also told that one of my ignition coils was weak but that I could still continue driving the car for another 6 months and then if the pick goes down badly then I will have to change it. He said it will cost you about 2,500/- to 3,000/- :O What I want to ask is that is it ok if I continue to drive the car with one of the ignition coils being WEAK? Will it affect the engine?

    tyrone_40..
    dude.. my coil was weak then suddenly stopped working.. even after 6 months you have to change it anyway, i think you should change it now as it effects the entire current flow and messes up ecu readings if its weak and then doesn't work suddenly.

    Punk
    yeah i know but mirrors etc are okay, i'm talking about electrical and mechanical components sensors, coils, valves etc. Ignition coil in particular as it has a differenct no. written, does it make a difference (good or bad) ? ne one ?

    Thanks. I guess you're right its no use driving with a malfunctioning part. How did you come to know that your coil stopped working /malfunctioned? Did you scan your car?

    He did a pressure compression test on all 4 coils otherwise I would never have known.

    i dunno what that means, please explain How do yo do a pressure compression test?

    neway, my car was missing on idle, but even that's not a good way to make sure, so what i did was started my car and one by one started pulling out the socket on the coil, the car shuts down and struttles when u take a working coils socket out, and one of the socket had no effect. so when i pulled it out the noise of the spark wasn't there and put another coil in that place and it worked, so that's how i knew. i changed it and my car is perfectly fine now.

    Sorry the Pressure Compression Test was done to check the valves which I think means that the engine is working fine. Thats what he said i think

    Now I realised & remember. I saw that he checked the ignition coils exactly the same way you did. By removing one at a time after starting the car & the engine was running.

    How much did you get your coil for and what make (japanese)?

    Try to find original Denso K16R-U as recommended by toyota. keep the gap 0.8 mm.

    As per my knowledge the metal portion of orginal denso sparkplug is sliverish where as the replica is golden in shade.

    The coil (original) was for rs.2000 but you have to really look for the cheap priced ones as people are charging 4000 for it also in def, clifton shops. i got it from waterpump fb area car market.

    I got it scanned and also did the compression test to check the valves etc. They are two different things.

    You can go to him and he will explain everything to you. On main tariq road when you reach the signal next to the police chowki turn left and its the next lane after United Bakery.

    The tel. no is 0333-4838361 Farhan.
