Verticle clearance between my Corolla Vitz flooring and road level is too small. This results in floor crashes even when one climbs or goes down Karachi speed breakers at 90 degrees quite carefully and cautiously at low speeds.
How could one increase this clearance?
hello
You have 3 options:
Change the springs, as harder and longer ones are available (but not recommended)
Put 2.5 cm spacers on rear springs which are available easily now
Put slightly larger tires (like 185/70/R13) which will increase clearance, but will not work if you commute with heavily loaded vehicle (like CNG or 5 people on board)
Recommended option is 3, which works well in my case as my vehicle mostly is lightly loaded. Otherwise, you can put spacers, probably the best option as they will not harm suspension. Putting harder springs will make ride uncomfortable.
Regards
Deloy
I am grateful to "Deloy" for the reply to my query and use option Number 2, as suggested, and shall report progress.
I take this opportunity to further ask where could I get 2.5 cm spacers and cost?
Hello!i suggest to put some spacers rather than putting new coil overs............the stiffer springs just spoils the rear comfort and also suspension till some bit........a nice spacers can do the job.......!Thanxxx
my corolla is low,,i drive diagonal over a bump. when cant avoid it and that works
@maquidwai...
Spacers were available at almost all Spares shops I asked, they were aluminium spacers from malaysia, good quality..anyway you can ask from Plaza, they are surely available there. Check forums here somebody posted a shop and the contact number of someone who is importing spares for vitz and has got almost everything, in Plaza
I'd advise you to go for the spacers, adn possibly have your shocks checked.
the problem isn't with the ars,.. it's with the 20 foot speed breakers they have made in this country!
Hello Everybody:
I could get time only today to get my Vitz fixed with Spacers as suggested by Deloy. Driven only about 15 km so far after that. Its performance appears to be improved. I am continuing with the testing process.
Once again I am grateful to Deloy and all others who have taken interest and time in guiding me.
i have never seen spacers on a car before but it seems they are a popular option on cars in pakistan to tackle the height issue.
what do they look like? does anyone have photos? and where exactly they are installed?
The experience of getting Spacers fixed in my Toyota, Vitz has been quite good & results are fine. It also did not cost much - a total amount of Rs 1200 at Plaza including spacers and labour.
I sincerely thank Deloy and others who gave me the suggestion. God bless you.
The idea of fixing the spacer is good. You can get it from GOLA WALA in plaza. The money i gave him was 500 but he was asking for 800. Try your luck......
