p.s congratulations on the purchase, how's the acceleration of this vitz compared to 1.0L ? I find the the 1.0 pretty sluggish.
well for that i am pretty sure that any corolla (XLI/GLI) can be surely beaten along with EXI 2005. Tested experience. Havent tested against anything else.

the ride is ultra smooth tough not these days since recently reset the ECU and car has still not calibrated itself.

Nothing happens, the rough idle will surely get set by throttle body service. and as your car is 100k+ driven the Cat might have choked by now

Dear Experts, is there a specific way to reset the ECU, i have done it twice by disconnecting the -ve terminal of the battery and car is idling at around 600 RPM which is causing it to rattle.

I just press the paddle to minimum possible extent (taking IDLE RPM to 700-800) and its smooth as silk. Also its doing knocking like mad.

too much knocking since the ECU reset.

    Please advice the solution.

Dont intend to get it opened up from a mechanic considering it all started because of me (ECU reset attempt) which i am not sure whether it was required or not.

    Regards

Well iv'e given u the reason that when u reset the ECU the throttle settings r disturbed and the car starts vibrating on idle, Don't let anyone touch the ECU, its not a big issue at all, it just needs a carb cleaner spray on the throttle body so that the idle smoothens up, happened many times on my vitz

bro i used STP fuel injector cleaner and new air filter and knocking sound went away before oil change and CVT oil change.

After i changed all fluids and reset the ECU knocking has come back mainly because car is idling at lower RPM and not producing enough torque to pull the weight (when i dont press the pedal). If i drive with heavy foot the knocking goes away during acceleration.

this is the dangerous and worst act to do on a JDM car and once i did it on a JDM Mira and 2 sensors burnt at once. And fire was ignited in the engine compartment and the service station guy throwed sand on the engine not to make too much fire.So please donot wash engine of your JDM cars.

Once you have reseted the ECU by disconnection the battery cable for 10mins or more then when you again connect the battery cables.Just start the ignition of car and leave it for 5 mins till the rpm adjusts itself then turn the headlights, heater,cd player everything which works on battery because after the ECU is reset your car previous ECU settings get erased and then the ECU have to relearn its settings.

I have tested this method on my Corolla GLI 2010 and same happened with me for the first time that idle got rough and even car stalls and gets off while on IDLE.

car started stalling yesteday morning due to low RPM at idle.

went to mechanic, serviced the throttle body, checked oxygen and paddle sensor.

Got it checked and reset using a OBD tool and now its perfect.

car was fixed. i have checked that the idle and drive is super silk smooth now.

However i am experiencing decreased milage and less pick up. Guy is asking me for 2000 Rs (as a fixing cost - using OBD scanner). is it the right price.

Also can the fuel ration be tempered so that milage is adjusted precisely using scanner? Or is there any possibility that he feddled with the fuel ratio. Also knocking is gone. almost no knocking at all now.

No you cannot adjust anything with an OBD scanner... Come to my place I ll scan your car for free...

About the decreased mileage, check tire pressure, air filter and then lastly your fuel.... Get fuel from a good petrol station...

    Cheers...
Driving is not about going from point A to point B, it is the point...

Told u the culprit was Throttle Body
For Mileage which air filter r u using? the regular guard filters r not at all suitable for Vitz as it is too thick and results in low fuel Avg, The original Vitz Air filter is very thin and is for around 1500, change that and hopefully mileage and pick will improve
