Toyota 1.3 Xe wala engine model 95-96 is best for VW
forget Charade 1.0 petrol....that wont support the weight of Beetle body
And the best option is to go for 1970-74 model original VW 1600 cc engine
Trust me.......I have an original 1600cc beetle and it beats all modified...or converted beetles.

    hello aridsoul,
Thanks for prompt response. I had been looking for a good two port 1600 for a long time now but no luck. I am intrested in charade engines cos they are shorter (3 cyl) compared to toyotas moreover cb6 is 68 hp and Gtti cb80 is 100 hp which is way above my stock 1200 40 hp. Moreover i guess toyota 1300 stock cannot be more powerful than charade turbo 60 hp at most

    Regards
    Zia

The HP of the engine is not of the engine block alone.....its in relation with the body weight....A charade engine which gives u a certain HP in a Charade body wont give the same HP fitted in a VW body and that too in Rear Wheel Drive form...THINK.
If you want some other engine that an original VW then Toyota XE model 94-95 engine is best
Otherwise come to Lahore there are many original 1600 cc VW engines here in L-O-S market MOZANG.
