Actually the Crown Vic loox like the Magna/Verada/Diamante since it Vic design came later ... it looked like cop car due to its roof rack though:)
The Aussie way of life is Ute/Pickup is a must in every home. Actually the Ute was visioned and requested by Aussies and Ford came up with the very first Ute. The reason for mentioning Ute is that if you don't have or can't have a Ute, you'll definitely need a hitch/towbar. I've seen small cars like barina, pulsar, civics and 'rollas having these installed. Its kind of a must here due to the way of life we live here.
Like you mentioned the stuff I tooka few days ago, I spent 40$ a day rent for the trailer instead of spending 140$ on delivery charges ..
regarding installation, they don't come as standard or pre-installed and you'll have to request and the dealership will install ADR approved towbar for you. You can install an approved and complied aftermarket towbar by professional installers too.
For the trailers, there are a few rules to follow. Like, all trailers with GTM (trailer mass) exceeding 750kg must have brakes and that all trailers must have stop lights as well as indicators. Another thing to consider is that, if the trailer is not fitted with brakes, then the max mass of trailer must not exceed the mass of the car and that the GCM (combined mass of car and trailer) must not exceed 4.5 tonnes and if it does, you might need consultation from the required authority whether to drive or not in that state ... etc etc..
I think I overdid it
