I hope you are well. Prosmatec Reborn is indeed a gas guzzler. But if you want to buy automatic then definitely go for the Oriel varient and a 2010 or later model (you will need a couple of lacs more than 20 for that unfortunately) because you'll get ABS, Sunroof , auto folding mirrors and those pretty alloys.
Within city the average is between 8-10 and if you get caught in construction areas during rush hour then it will go down to even 6. The key in city driving is to take the car to 64-67 km/hr thus engaging the 5th gear and then just keeping it above 58 km/hr with slight foot on the padel. Press it too hard and it will downshift to 3rd and even 2nd to give you a kickdown.
On long routes it's good. I travel 75 kms every day, 5 days a week, on ring road and I have done all kinds of experiments with different speeds to calculate average.
With constant speed of 100-105 you'll get around 14-15. If you drive it at 80 then it can give you 16-17 even. The best I got was 16.70 km/litre while keeping speeds between 80-90.
So usually I keep the rpm between 1.5 (76 km/hr) and 2 (103 km/hr).
The interior is futuristic and seems modern even by today's standards. It's a driver's car and keeps you engaged while driving and so you don't really miss the tech gizmos. The driver seating position is wonderful and you feel in control even at high speeds due to low center of gravity. The flat floor in the rear adds to rear passenger comfort.
It has it's fair share of problems though. To name a few, Power steering leakages, choked cat converter, fragile suspension, poor headlamp throw, bad gear mounts, tensioner pulley. But parts are available and once you fix these then it's an absolute pleasure.
If you are looking for a Reborn then look up ads with ownership history and test drive a few cars. The more cars you look and test drive the more you will be able to recognize the feel of a maintained car.
While buying a used Reborn, set aside a minimum of 1 lac for spending on things like tyres(if needed, BG Thundermax cost around 54-56k), new battery, engine oil+atf oil and any other miscellaneous work.
For Punjab registered cars token tax would be 7600 for filer and transfer of ownership shall cost somewhere between 2-3k( challan fee for transfer + biometric fee). No need to hire an agent you can easily do it with an online application with gopb app and then just taking the car to the excise office that you had selected for inspection.
