This is just plain comical now,
every other thread on PW complains of car manufacturers not providing safety equipment and SRS items like pretension seat belts and air bags, but on the same page we see such alterations being perfectly allowable.
In original form the steering column is built to collapse within itself in the event of a crash - that is why almost no service manuals tell you to repair the column (except for exchanging or greasing the ISS/slip yoke)
hacking a steering column for install into another car is like playing with fire - in the event of a body crunching crash the steering can proceed to smash your ribs.
