Hello Pakwheelers,
Abbottabad is now well-known to be hunting grounds py Traffic and normal police. Just recently on their "Naka" by Police they searched my car and confiscated SunShades. If they had fined, that would have been another story but wanted to inquire if Police has authority to confiscate sunshades?
sir @Salman3288 traffic police can only penalise and issue a penalty ticket for a traffic offence. They have no authority to confiscate any private property in absence of an FIR without presence of a magistrate. did they provided you with a paper for confiscating the property to obtain release order from court. ?? if No, you can lodge a report with concerned SDPO mark copy to local DIG with date time and place of such incident.
Aren’t sun shades acceptable?
They’re not window tinting and can be removed.
Yes at most they can tell you to remove it. But confiscating is something they can't do.
I did lodge complaint on Citizen Portal but I don't feel they are gonna do anything about it. Will just let the post sit here for others to be aware of their rights.
Police hamari kuch kar skti ni, inhien ab hamary Shades sy khatra ha
It happened on 27th March at 11 PM, I was surprised when they took them from the car during search. I guess they needed money for Iftar, but the issue was that the Sunshades were expensive and it felt like being robbed by the Police in the middle of the night
They CANNOT take your sunshades or anything else for that matter. I've also heard that they don't have the authority to even stop and check you unless authorised by their higher ups.
It's a sad state of affairs that civil service has turned into business. Almost all civil servants are corrupt to their core.
if they cant take shadeshow r they tearing up tint paper at every other check post
Sunshades can be taken off when needed while tints can't be (Obviously). But sunshades ARE legal.
