Seriously speaking i don't know why people still opt for a mehran.. u can easily say that there isnt any option in that price bracket but believe me if u buy an old mehran and rebuild it, it would save you at least 1 lac or more very easily.. i mean come on why pay a ridiculous 5 lac amount on a car that doesnt really deserve to be more than 3 lac even today.. i have seen people buying old mehrans & getting it rebuild because this is the car, the parts of which are available for hundreds of rupees only.. in some cases even less than that..
if you buy a 98/99 Mehran for 1.8 lac (karachi market approx amount), in worst come worst cases you will have to spend 35-50 thousand on complete full body makeover which will be same as a factory rolled-out mehran.. refurbishing interior with genuine seats & stuff will only add about 25-35 thousand.. even getting the engine rebuild/ replace will not be a big hassle... an almost zero meter mehran will be ready within 3 lac and will be trouble-free for at least a couple of years.. i have seen people doing this and if you are money conscious this is a very wise move to save approx 2 lacs which is quite a money.. for every other car you cannot implement this process but for old 70s based Ravi & Bolan and 80s Mehran, there is no problem at all to do this... just give it a try, its a bit hectic but eventually save a lot.
thats one of the ways you can bring the prices of new Mehran down.. think about it
